Deion Sanders is on the verge of making it to the Big 12 Championship game in his second year in Boulder. But there are some obvious roadblocks that need to be cleared first for it to become a reality. The Colorado Buffaloes inched their conference title hopes closer with their blowout 52-0 season-stopper victory. But for them to rise, someone else has to fall.

Following their Senior Day game, a proud Deion Sanders not only expressed his happiness in their stellar feat but also drew a line where his rivals were concerned. In a new YouTube episode on DNVR Sports on November 30, he said, “I’m proud of where we are and what we accomplished. I really am. You want to ask me these crazy questions. I’m not one to go home and watch TV and wish somebody loses so we could go to the bowl game. I don’t get down like that.”

The Buffs (9-3, 7-2) finally made a strong case as a potential Big 12 Championship contender with their final season win against Oklahoma State. But their playoff fate lies in the hands of three other Big 12 teams—BYU (6-2), Iowa State (6-2), and Arizona State (6-2). As of now, these four teams all have a two-loss record each in the conference.

Deion Sanders may not want to wish it upon anybody, but if the Colorado Buffs were to enter the title game, two of these three teams need to lose. If all of them lose, the Buffs can get a straight path to the conference title game. But it’s too early to celebrate, as their final regular season game is still ahead. So nothing is certain until Saturday. Well, whatever the outcome of these games, the 57-year-old HC can look back at the season and smile at what he’s accomplished in Boulder before a huge transition takes place.

In his post-game speech, Deion Sanders, who escorted his two sons into the field ahead of the game, appeared somewhat emotional. He said, “It didn’t hit me to the end of the game that that was the last time here that me, Shedeur and Shilo and Bucky will enjoy that moment with the four of us together.” For the father and sons, it’s going to be a huge transition, as they’ve been playing together for eternity. But Deion Sanders must be proud of how he finished his last hoorah” with his sons.
