Deion Sanders has time and again reiterated that he is not thinking about moving to the NFL for his coaching aspirations. Coach Prime Prime is happy in Boulder saying that he wants to “finish here.” He has maintained that stance despite knowing that he won’t be coaching his sons next season since they are eligible for this year’s draft. But in a new development, the Buffs HC, linked with the Cowboys, left the door ajar for an NFL return under one condition.

The highly popular docuseries Coach Prime The Show is back with another season. On Wednesday, Good Morning America gave fans a first brief glance in their latest YouTube episode where Shedeur Sanders was asked what keeps him sane in football. His reply was “Being able to listen to my dad, being able to get his advice.” As the focus panned to Deion Sanders, he labeled the clip as “emotional” and said he was “99-100% sure” the bowl game was his last time coaching Shedeur and Shilo as he bid adieu to them.

The focus then shifted to Coach Prime’s NFL future, with the host asking, “But is there a chance that you could head to the NFL?” Sanders replied, “You know what? The only way I would consider is to coach my sons. Not son. Sons. Okay.” The next season is going to be the first time the second-year Colorado HC won’t be coaching his sons. There’s no guarantee that Deion Sanders would get an NFL job even if both his sons sign up for the same team, which is another remote possibility.

But these comments do suggest that Sanders remains open to the idea of coaching in the NFL one day. The Cowboys, in particular, have been linked with Sanders after their poor season under Mike McCarthy. In fact, the push to have Sanders in Dallas was given a boost by former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin.

Irvin said that he was looking to bring up the subject of Sanders taking over the team to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. “I give him respect like I give my great guy Deion Sanders, who didn’t go the normal route – who I’m gonna be in Jerry’s ear about later,” Irvin said ahead of the AT&T Stadium fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. The Las Vegas Raiders are another team that are reported to be interested in acquiring his services.

Sanders being open to the idea of coaching in the NFL, is also a departure from his earlier strict stance.

During an appearance on FS1’s Speak in November, Sanders made it clear that he remains committed to the Buffs. “I’m happy where I am.   I’m good. I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? … That means I’m resting. I’m good. I’m happy. I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here. I truly do.”  Even during his conversation on GMA, he followed his NFL comments by emphasizing that he wanted to be in Boulder.

“I love Colorado. I love everything we’re building I love what we’re doing, and I love Boulder, Colorado,” he added. But what adds fuel to his recent comments is that in the past, Sanders courted controversy by saying he would have a say in where his sons begin their professional football careers. While Coach Prime’s words offer a faint possibility that he might be reunited with his sons in NFL, there is another hurdle.

Is Shilo Sanders' music career a loss for football or a win for the music industry?

Have an interesting take?

Shedeur Sanders has been projected as one of the top picks for the NFL Draft 2025 after an impressive season in Boulder. He finished second nationally in touchdown passes (37) and fourth nationally in passing yards (4,134) while being named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. But on the other hand, Shilo is not seen as someone the teams would be eager to get in their ranks.

In his final season with Colorado, he had 45 tackles, one forced fumble, and two passes defended as he struggled with injury after suffering a broken forearm in a game against Nebraska. Yet, there is a chance that he may end up as one of the picks in the later rounds. However, if his recent move is anything to go by, he might not be too bothered about his football future.

The 24-year-old followed in his family’s footsteps by making waves in the music industry. Three decades ago, Deion Sanders also released his first album titled Prime Time featuring 16 tracks, and Deion Sanders Jr. released a song titled “Iggy” in 2024 while Shedeur released his hit single “Perfect Timing” in May. Now Shilo has come up with a 15-track debut album “Hate 2 Love,” on January 4.

The album has received love and plenty of attention from the fans, which might make Shilo rethink his career path, in case his NFL hopes don’t work out. It would also end the likelihood of Coach Prime moving into an NFL coaching role going by his recent comments.

Meanwhile, Shilo’s album found immense support and praise from his family members.

Nothing new there. Whether it’s sports or music, Pilar Sanders goes to lengths to make her kids feel seen and appreciated. Shilo Sanders’ “UFO”  from his new album became a hit, a track that his mother couldn’t be more proud of. Just a few days ago, she posted a video of her vibing to her son’s music in her car with her pet. Her caption summed up her joy and pride – “A Flex – Vibing to your son’s Entire album cuz it’s 🔥🔥🔥”

Bucky and Shedeur also expressed their support while talking on the “2Legendary” podcast. “It’s fire; I’m not going to lie. It’s a song where he goes, he said, ‘I’m amazing.’ I said, ‘Bro, that goes hard, bro. I’m not going to lie to you.’” Deion Sanders Jr. said. “People love it too. It’s funny because people kept DMing, like posting the mentions on Instagram, and I was like, ‘What is this?’”

Shedeur teased Shilo for not featuring him in his album but said, “I’ve been bumping it all day. I’m ready to listen to it on the beach, man, so I’ve been saving all of my plays for when I’m out there.”

What does it mean for Deion Sanders’s future? Well, for the time being the Buffs fans can be assured that they will have Prime Time in Boulder given the progress this season and his own ambitions with the program.
