Will Deion Sanders' ego keep him in Boulder, or is the NFL calling his name?

Well, well, well, Colorado Buffaloes fans might be having a rush of all the emotions at one go. Happy, sad, excited, fearful. Isn’t it? Deion Sanders’ army rose from one spot to No.16 in the third CFB playoff rankings. It’s enough for a cloud-nine moment. After all, Coach Prime gifted them the taste of success after so long. But deep down a sense of fear and abandonment must already been plaguing Colorado at its heart. After all, this marks the last chapter of their QB Shedeur Sanders in college. And here came the CFB insider, who gave a reality check on how Shedeur could act like a magnet to attract Papa Prime to the NFL. Meanwhile, will it be too tough for Coach Prime to keep his “ego” aside and swap?

Come on, we all know how Deion is. Ever since he has found himself at the helm of the Buffs program, he has turned it into his responsibility to take them out of the mud. And as we now see, Coach Prime did not only talk big, but he walked the talk! However, for what Colorado is today, Deion all alone would not have been so powerful had not he made his son Shedeur and dual-threat Travis Hunter absolute phenoms. In that case, the Buffs HC would be returning to an empty nest after the dynamic duo gets drafted to the NFL. On the Rich Eisen Show, host Mike Hill dropped the big question for guest, FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman, “Do you see Deion Sanders being the coach of the Colorado Buffalo next year…or is he going to the NFL?”

Already rumors are doing rounds of Coach Prime’s landing chances with Florida State Seminoles now that they got fed up with their HC Mike Norvell. Feldman then brings in a nice comparison with the now Los Angeles Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh and how he made a return to college football from the NFL and went back. However, to the analyst, “Deion is a is completely different because Deion was a legendary player. He knows that world.” But Feldman too seems to be worried thinking about the time after Shedeur’s departure. And that might act as the turning point. After all, Shedeur will have big shoes to fill and how can his father just leave him alone? Thus, the analyst stated, “I think Shedeur can be a franchise quarterback. Who better to coach him, to be the head coach than the guy who’s you know whatever spent 15 years in the NFL as a Pro Football Hall of Famer.” But a behavioral snag might bother Coach Prime on his way to the NFL.

A trait that might hinder Deion Sanders’ journey to the NFL

There is no doubt in the fact that, as much as Deion is loved for his arrogance, his “ego” has slipped him into multiple ‘most hated coach’ lists. On the Dan Patrick Show, fans got a new aspect of this big ‘Coach Prime in the NFL’ debate. The guest, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Chris Simms, seemed to be truly confident about his big swap as he claimed, “I think Deion Sanders is made more for the NFL than he is for college football…Deion wants to lead. He wants to get the guys ready, he wants to walk in the meeting room and go ‘Wait, we can’t do this, that’s stupid, stupid. Let’s do that, that, and that.” But was the podcast host, Dan Patrick convinced?

Definitely, not. To the analyst, it would be tough for Deion to break free of the godly image that he is privileged to have in Boulder. Maybe he would rather choose to enjoy sitting on the pedestal and getting worshipped for a little longer. He then dished out a bold claim, “I think his ego is plated that ‘Oh my God they’re coming to play for me not Colorado they’re coming to play for me.” And here the Buffs are already locking their gates for the favorite HC.

Yes, the Boulder family is trying their best to keep on wooing Deion Sanders. For instance, they fulfilled the HC’s longtime wish of having a personalized locker room. They then went to great lengths to make his dream come true and gifted Coach Prime a den with the ultimate ‘Deion Sanders’ touch. Is the Buffs locker room enough, or will the NFL’s “father-son bonding package” seal the deal?
