Can Shilo Sanders silence his critics and prove his resilience against Arizona this weekend?

After his poor performance in the Week 7 game, Shilo Sanders has been the target of all the criticism. After all, he recently recovered from a difficult injury and now has to contend with an even more difficult defeat this week. CU Buffs’ safety returned against Kansas State after missing three games with an arm injury. However, he found himself dealing with disappointment rather than enjoying a victorious return. Even his dad, Deion Sanders, called his performance ‘horrible.’ So, Shilo’s return to the field did not help the Buffs, who had been on a three-game winning streak, to extend it to four. But in the face of all the criticism, Coach Prime’s audacious disclosure about Shilo flips the script.

On October 18, JaKi, Colorado Buffs’ content creator, shared a video of Deion Sanders on his X account. It depicted Deion’s praise about Shilo, stating, “He’s that one kid that I have. I don’t worry about him.” Moreover, explaining the reason, Coach Prime stated, “Because he’s mentally and physically tough, and if people really look at his career, this is the first time that we’ve seen Shilo vulnerable. I know what I’m gonna get this game. I know he’s gonna brag it.

However, addressing such criticism as bliss for Shilo, Deion mentioned in the same footage, “But I’m glad it transpired because he got an opportunity to see who everyone is. And I always tell him, I say, son, people love you based on what you give them. Not just based on love. People ain’t like that anymore in life.

It shows that Deion is a good father who pushes his son to reach his full potential. The critics did not take into account that Shilo was returning from an injury. Like the other pile-ons we have seen with everything related to Coach Prime, this had a familiar look, devoid of context. Just a few weeks ago, everyone went after Shedeur when he mentioned the issues with the Buffs’ O-line, forgetting that the latter’s primary job is to protect their QB. Having said that, Shilo was open about how performance against Kansas State. Let’s take a look at his statement.

I know I played horrible. He knows I played horrible. That’s what happened,” said Shilo after Saturday’s game. Moreover, he added, “I know how to tackle. I’ve made a lot of tackles in my career. One game, I’m not going to let everybody (be like), ‘Oh, you’re trash. You can’t do this. You can’t do that.’ ” It indicates how desperate Shilo is to showcase his talent with the impending gain.

However, there is no doubt about it: Shilo is a star athlete, as per his back record. But he recorded 10 tackles this time, missing several opportunities to wrap up the Wildcats. As of now, he acknowledged that his overzealous return might have contributed to some of the tackling problems, stating, “We’ve got to keep going with it. We can’t just quit now,” stated Shilo.

The game against Arizona is a perfect opportunity for Shilo to prove his naysayers wrong. Can he do that? What is your opinion?
