With over 10 years of NFL experience, we saw firsthand what Deion Sanders was capable of as he transformed the Buffs from a team that no one talked about to a team that’s pretty much “everybody’s super bowl”. Andy Staples put it perfectly when he mentioned, “Everybody who plays Colorado wants to kick the crap out of Colorado.” And why is this? Because Deion and his Coach Prime persona have created an image that just demands attention. From trash-talking on the internet to straight-up being cocky about their performance, Deion has done everything in his power to grab the public’s attention. No wonder he’s a marketing mastermind.

However, while it is true that Coach Prime and the Buffs have now taken hold of social media, what if Deion already knew the intricacies of social media since his NFL days? Deion Sanders Jr. brings us the answer we are looking for on August 25th on the Zero 2 Sixty show. “You know, if you had social media etc. back in the day, how much you think you’ll get paid with these astronomical contracts?” was the question Deion Jr. had asked his father. Coach Prime’s reply to him was perfect. “He’s like, honestly, they’d give me part of ownership of the team,” Deion Jr. explained regarding what Coach Prime had said. If Coach Prime had gotten half ownership of the Buffs, then it’s sure that he would have made some drastic changes in the CFB landscape. Because, while not being a co-owner, we already saw the impact he had over the Buffs’ presence. Back on July 20th, we got a sneak peek into the entire Coach Prime social media masterclass on The Pregame Show. Uncle Neely explained that 3 major channels surround the entire Buffs media. The Pregame Show, Well Off Media and Reach The People. All 3 segments follow different styles. From in-depth interviews on Pregame Show, to behind-the-scenes shenanigans on Well Off and finally a mix of both on Reach The People.

Through a mix of this, Deion was able to push the Buffs to over $200 million in total valuation. Not only that, the program also saw a solid increase in its ticket sales as well. CU games recorded a sales increase of more than 40%. Back in 2023, even while the Buffs had a terrible 4-8 run, the ticket sales still never stopped. That is the power Deion managed to cultivate after moving from Jackson State to CU. Also, if Deion knew all the details of social media power even before he stepped into coaching, then he would probably be a bigger deal than any other NFL star out there. It’s wild to think that even after all this, Paul Finebaum had claimed that Deion Sanders and the Buffs are “irrelevant” in college football. If they are, then explain why their schedule got preponed.

“We Need That Deion Money” Colin Moore had mentioned back on August 18th. If you didn’t know, the Buffs schedule was moved a few days forward. The games were supposed to start for the boys on August 31st. However, now it’s starting on August 29th. Why is that? Well, Moore explained it perfectly. Wherever Deion Sanders goes, he brings the views, and that’s what the NCAA wants.

Not only that but with how the team has evolved in the last few months, they demand more eyes on them. Shedeur Sanders’s accuracy has gone up considerably, and he is being trained on the defense and offense by Pat Shurmur himself. Jimmy Horn Jr, on the other hand, showed how well he had become with his catches when he managed to track and catch a 50-yard throw from Shedeur during the fall camp. Travis Hunter is much larger than before, with 17 pounds more, and that makes him much stronger on the field. The O-line has completely changed and Deion has gone above and beyond to ensure that the team does not make the same mistakes they did last year. It’s going to be good this time round. Let’s hope the Buffs grab an amazing run.
