Is Deion Sanders right to publicly challenge media decisions, or should he mind his own business?

New day, new drama for the Sanders fam! But instead of the team or the HC, it had to do with Buffs’ loyal face, national analyst Philip Dukes. Being extremely protective of Colorado supporters, Deion Sanders took a stand for this analyst. However, Coach Prime, making a remark here ended up making the CEO media tycoon upset, who did not mince his words. One thing led to another and that’s when Deion’s son, Deion Sanders Jr. had to step up in his father’s defense.

On October 30, the Well Off Media re-shared a post from On3 CEO and founder, Shannon Terry with a warning. Deion Jr. wrote, “Just watch your tone.” Just as Coach Prime is protective of all five of his kids, his kids, too, are often armed to protect Papa Prime’s honor. This time it was Bucky’s turn.

According to reports, right after Colorado’s 24-23 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats, Coach Prime had to take to X for something serious. After his Boulder visit, Dukes got hit by a massive blow: On3 fired him. The Buffaloes have always had support from Dukes as reporters, even in their lowest of the lowest times. So how could Coach Prime just remain shut?

Standing by a man of talents and work ethic, Deion wrote on X, “What’s really going on? My man @DukestheScoop is a free agent I just heard. This young brother is truly talented, smart, relational & will work his butt off. Networks & media outlets please check him out. @On3sports what’s really going on? God bless u my brother. #CoachPrime.”

That’s when Terry thought Deion went too far beyond minding his business and gave Coach Prime a reality check. “Coach @DeionSanders, with all due respect, as my mother and father told me growing up, “mind your own plate.” Dukes and I had a great conversation this morning about what was best for On3 and his career. We are good and have a plan,” tweeted the CEO. If this didn’t remind you of another big controversy, time to brush up on your memory.

Deion Sanders’ on-camera showdown with a reporter

What’s your perspective on:

Is Deion Sanders right to publicly challenge media decisions, or should he mind his own business?

Have an interesting take?

Back in August, Deion got into trouble on camera when he snubbed a CBS reporter. The Buffs were then preparing to be their best version during the 2024 kickoff when Coach Prime faced the media. He had gone for a press conference when he was approached with a question from a reporter. But the charismatic HC had abruptly shut him down. The reason?

The local reporter named Eric Christensen bore a “CBS” tag. That’s when Deion refused to engage in any conversation with him. Not to allow people to come up with different theories, the Buffs HC clarified, “CBS, I’m not doing nothing with CBS. Next question. It ain’t got nothing to do with you. This is above that. It ain’t got nothing to do with you. I’ve got love for you. I appreciate you. I respect you. It ain’t got nothing to do with you. They know what they did.”

But why so many bitter feelings with someone from the top media house? That might be because a few days back CBS gave a lower ranking than expected for the Colorado Buffaloes HC. Poor Deion! Even though this time he did not have to bear the media blows, someone close to him had been thrown under the bus for being cordial with the Buffs.
