My dad’s still going to be in Colorado. They (brothers and Travis Hunter) are going to be elsewhere. But I don’t know what the future holds for me; I don’t know. I haven’t made a decision.” This was Deion Sanders Jr. contemplating his future after the departure of Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis Hunter to the NFL draft. As heartbreaking as the statement looks for the Buffs fans, the future may be too boring without ‘Bucky’ covering those games at Colorado. The man who gave us a sneak peek into a whole new world involving Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes will surely be missed if he decides to go. But that’s not going to happen, right?

Well, in the two years Shedeur and Coach Prime have been in Colorado, Bucky, too, has carved a name for himself. We might not see Deion Jr. on the field and performing like Shedeur or Shilo, but the eldest Sanders surely has built his own niche audience with his ‘Well-Off-Media’ platform that covered much of the happenings around the program. The creative mindset that he pours into his videos is undoubtedly unparalleled.

The Well Off Media provided the fans with what no other media agency is contemplating providing in the sporting world. We saw personal moments posted daily and inside happenings from the gym to practice sessions; Bucky covered it all. Additionally, the videos featured prominent insiders such as Rick George, the athletic director of the Buffs, who regularly provided updates to the fans. Similarly, there were videos featuring the information director, Curtis Snyder. But despite the effort Deion Jr. puts in for the fans, this type of work sometimes goes unnoticed.

Lil Wayne, the famous rapper and a close confidant of Travis Hunter and Sanders’ family, highlighted the work that Bucky is putting in and how the eldest son sacrificed many things to do just that. “Noticing how Bucky just subtracted his pride, subtracted his ego, and became what he needed to become for his brother and for you guys. That right there stood out to me so much. I even tell him to this day.” Deion Jr. posted this video of Lil Wayne on his ‘welloffforever’ IG account and wrote quite emotionally, “Damn… This Means A Lot!” Well, the transformation Bucky has undergone is quite real, too.

Ever since Deion Jr. has taken up the media and social media responsibilities of the football program, the viewership and revenue have skyrocketed. The total revenue was more than $340 million, which had all the signs of Deion Jr.’s role. Furthermore, this resulted in a significant increase in broadcast viewership, with the Buffs ranking among the 25 most-watched games of the season, even though they did not qualify for the playoffs. The games averaged well over 7 million views per game, with Nebraska and Oregon games pulling north of 9 million views. Much of the program’s social media and PR success has been credited to Deion Jr.

Deion Jr. comes out in Shedeur Sanders’ defense

Well, Deion Sanders Jr., apart from making inroads in the media world, also doesn’t shy away from calling out things when needed. Be it calling out the scouts on pro day for ‘wrongly’ keeping his brother Shilo’s time or standing up against Coach Prime’s trolls? So, when a video appeared on X berating his brother, Shedeur came up, well, you know already what Deion Jr. did.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Deion Sanders Jr. the unsung hero behind the Buffaloes' media success, or just riding the wave?

Have an interesting take?

In a video posted on X by former NFL linebacker and draft analyst Emmanuel Acho, he batted for Jaxson Dart being the QB2. The analyst even posted some tapes of the Ole Miss QB’s games and praised the QB for his “ball placement” and “bomb touchdown.” The analyst used the same video to argue that Shedeur isn’t the draft’s QB2, even if the play was cool. Deion Sanders Jr. wasn’t going to take it lightly.

The eldest Sanders replied to the post and wrote, “I was blind, but now I see,” and also replied with a brutal emoji saying, “Shut the f— up”.  Bucky’s reply certainly has started a discussion around the analyst’s intent, with people questioning his intentions. As for the draft, it is now less than 24 hours away, and all will be crystal clear then.
