Ain’t no secret — Shedeur Sanders got folks all kinds of riled up in this year’s NFL Draft conversation. Some scouts got him as a top-three pick, others got him mid-to-late first round, but anything below that? Straight-up diabolical. Yet, somehow, that’s exactly where some critics are tryna put him. The wildest take? A former New York Jets scout jumped on X and went nuclear, saying Shedeur ain’t even draftable. Yeah, you read that right — undraftable. Free agent. Like the man ain’t just torched college defenses all season long.

On March 3, Daniel Kelly let off a tweet that had folks spinning: “As a former NFL scout, I have an undraftable free agent value on Shedeur Sanders’ 2024 Colorado film. That’s what his demonstrated skill set at Colorado translates to as an NFL projection.” The former scout ain’t stop there, though. He pulled out stats like Shedeur being the most sacked FBS QB over the last two seasons (94 times) and having the slowest time-to-throw in the draft class (3.00 seconds, per PFF). He even compared it to Trey Lance’s pre-draft hype, basically saying the media setting Shedeur up for failure.

Look — if you wanna critique, cool, but calling this man ‘undraftable free agent value’ after what he just did? That’s crazy work. Shedeur ain’t just put up numbers; he put up Madden 25 numbers. We talkin’ 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, only 10 picks, and a 74% completion rate. Shedeur was surgical even when Buffaloes took L. He even bagged the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and was crowned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. So yeah, ain’t nobody tryna hear that ‘he ain’t got dominant traits’ talk.

And Deion Sanders Jr.? Oh, he wasn’t letting that fly. He took to X, clapping back at Kelly’s nonsense with a simple but effective retweet: “Bro just calm yo h-e a– down… we get it.” But he ain’t stopping there. Deion Jr. doubled down, calling the entire scouting report blasphemous, straight-up diabolical. And let’s be real — he’s got a point. Kelly’s report had Shedeur looking like a backup QB at a Division III school, talkin’ bout ‘Tough, athletic, resilient, but low-ceiling prospect.’ What even? It didn’t just stop there, Shedeur Sanders’ draft stock is literally in free fall according to big-time NFL insider Todd McShay.

‘Long night’ for Shedeur Sanders?

The NFL Draft process is in full swing, and while some athletes raised their stock at the Combine, others got left in limbo. Shedeur didn’t even test, yet his name stayed in everybody’s mouth. The QB hierarchy was supposed to be locked in, but now some analysts acting like Shedeur ain’t even a guaranteed top-three guy.

Todd McShay and Stephen Muench hopped on a podcast, and Muench straight-up said, “It’s maybe quarterback three discussion time now.” So now, Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough are suddenly in the mix? The same guys who weren’t even in the conversation two months ago? Wild. McShay even suggested it “could be a long first night of the draft” for Shedeur. Now, does that mean he’s sliding outta the first round? Nah, that’d be criminal. But does it mean teams are playing mind games with his stock? Absolutely.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shedeur Sanders being unfairly judged, or are scouts right to question his NFL readiness?

Have an interesting take?

In Sporting News’ latest mock draft, Vinnie Iyer had Shedeur falling to the Raiders at sixth overall, with the QB-needy Giants passing him up for Travis Hunter. Understandable, but McShay’s comments make it seem like Shedeur could fall even further. Now, let’s be real: some teams overthink themselves into bad decisions every year. The same way folks let Lamar Jackson slide to 32nd, the same way they let Jalen Hurts drop to the 2nd round, they tryna play the same game with Shedeur.

Yet, when you really break it down, ain’t no reason for him to slip. The man just broke records at Colorado, faced relentless pressure behind a suspect O-line, and still put up elite numbers. If anything, surviving that mess should boost his stock. But instead, some scouts tryna flip the script and act like he’s the problem. The agenda is loud.

Look, Shedeur maybe isn’t perfect according to some NFL scouts and analysts. But acting like he’s some late-round flyer is insanity. You got folks out here gassin’ up QBs who played behind all-world O-lines with elite weapons, while Shedeur was out here duckin’ for his life, still dropping dimes.

End of the day, the draft ain’t nothing but a poker game. Teams bluff, analysts stir the pot, and the real evaluations stay behind closed doors. But one thing’s for sure — Shedeur ain’t no UDFA. And Deion Jr. is going to make sure everybody hears that loud and clear.
