Is Stephen A. Smith out of line criticizing Coach Prime, or does he have a point?

Deion Sanders is the exception to the rule that everything is temporary. His behavior significantly shapes others’ perceptions of him. Coach Prime remains the center of attention because of his beliefs, assertiveness, and coaching tactics. Controversies have always surrounded him, but this time his response to criticism is failing to impress fans and famous media personalities. The controversy escalated to a point where Coach Prime’s son, Dieon Sander Jr, felt compelled to take a stand. Let’s delve into what triggered him to take such action.

Nobody likes the way Coach Primes handled the bully allegations by instructing his team not to answer questions from reporter Sean Keeler. During a panel discussion today on the First Take, Stephen A Smith shared his disappointment with the way Deion Sanders and the entire team managed the situation. Taking to Twitter, Deion Sanders Jr. fearlessly called out Stephen’s ongoing rant about the topic, “There couldn’t have been any research done before this segment”. Stephen’s perception doesn’t seem to sit well with Deion Jr. Knowing Coach Prime, it’s hard to believe how he handled the whole allegation case, but also how much more of this “the Deion Kool-Aid” and “circus,” he could have taken.

In Keeler’s recent column after the news conference, he described Sanders as “A confident man who suddenly looked and acted and sounded afraid.” He was still not stopping himself from making derogatory comments about Coach Prime, what else you could have expected from Deion Jr. He had to step up for his father. Stephen also made remarks on Coach Prime saying “If you don’t want to talk to the reporter than don’t talk”. Well, that’s exactly what he did, but when you don’t do your research, you end up mixing things. Although Keeler is still allowed to attend football-related activities as a media member from the Denver Post, people are still seeing it as a controversial move. Well, will see how this turns further, but for now, let’s focus on how Deion is aligning his team for the season opener.

Sanders has made significant changes to the Buffs’ team by bringing in transfers and high school recruits like WR Will Sheppard, RB Drelon Miller, Dallan Hayden, and Isaiah Augustave in the team’s offense, To protect his star player QB Shedeur Sanders. Even Defense looks strong with the addition of Brandon Davis-Swain, Dayon Hayes, BJ Green, Quency Wiggins, and Warren Sapp resulting in a much more competitive lineup compared to a 1-11 record in 2022. However, Colorado experienced a significant decline after winning three games in a row at the start of the 2023 season.

Nevertheless, a win in the season opener against North Dakota State will uplift spirits in case they are feeling down. The fact that Colorado hasn’t been ranked in the AP preseason top-25 can provide further motivation. If at all they could make it up to their second bowl game in the past decade.
