Deion Sanders' dedication to youth—Is he the ultimate role model for today's sports legends?

If you think the Deion Sanders effect is only limited to college football, you need to wake up, folks! Coach Prime’s influence has now gone far and wide. More than the HC, people now put Deion on a pedestal for how he had given his everything into building a strong next generation. The big sacrifice that he made for his sons by joining the Buffs was enough to hand $160 million NBA legend with a new-found purpose. And obviously, it had to have nothing to do with the sport but to be extra vigilant about his son. After all, the young chap is about to start a very important chapter.

We all must be aware of how Deion’s only connection with the NBA is through LeBron “King” James. Yes, the two legends share a deep bond, so much so that LeBron James even handed Coach Prime a special edition of his sneakers. While in this case, mostly the NBA legend serves as the source of inspiration for the Buffs HC, a new narrative came forward. Thanks to the 10x NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, who considers Deion to be his guru. Well, that’s pretty common, isn’t it? But this time the Buffs HC is not held as a benchmark for his athletic skills, but Anthony looks up to Deion as the role model of his life. First things first, it starts with the sacrifice that the Buffs HC made, as Anthony stated, “The grind of him going back after an illustrious career and all of that like to go lock into your kids.”

As we all know, Papa Prime’s efforts did pay off well, as Shedeur now leads the NIL charts among college athletes, boasting a valuation of $6.2 million. That was enough to start a fire within the NBA legend to give his all for his son’s future: “Like for me that was like oh sh- – like I’m going to coach my kid. I got to go really train my kids and develop my kids because I know I got the blueprint.” You must be wondering why now, right?

Deion Sanders’ words of commitment provide comfort to the NBA legend

Anthony’s son Kiyan is about to turn the page to a critical and transformative chapter in his life. The 17-year-old has decided to attend Syracuse University this fall. And of course, this has to be special since it’s the NBA legend’s alma mater. Now this is something new for dad Anthony, as for so long Kiyan had played at the elite-level high school basketball in New York. So the young chap who now has a NIL value of $1.1 million is going to take a huge leap.

Have an interesting take?

He will be playing for the NCAA basketball and will have to face off against heavyweights like Duke and UNC. So it’s enough to give Anthony some jitters. On the other hand, rumors have already started to pour in that Deion will be flipping to the NFL. In that case, he will not be a call away for Anthony to seek advice from Coach Prime for his son. But it looks like the NBA legend does not have to worry so much just now.

Here he can count on Joel Klatt’s interview with Deion Sanders. As the analyst stated, “I asked him last Friday, ‘Do you want to go to the NFL?’ and he looked at me and said, ‘No.’” Want to know the reason? “He said, ‘Because I don’t feel like I would be fulfilling my calling and my purpose if I was there..listen, my calling is to impact young men and be a mentor to young men,’” shared Klatt. Now listening to this Carmelo Anthony can finally let out a sigh of relief.
