“They are irrelevant in the world of college football.” Heck no. While Paul Finebaum might have had some good takes throughout his life, this comment about Deion Sanders and the Buffs is pretty baseless. Deion took over a team that had nothing and turned it into a multi-million dollar program with star kids like Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, and Jordan Seaton onboard. Not only that, before Deion took over the Buffs had a drastic 1-11 year. The team went from that to 4-8. While they did not make a huge mark, many will have to agree that Coach Prime knew what he was doing.

However, their relevancy in CFB is proven yet again as Corey Phillips takes to X on August 29th to post an update regarding NFL scouts and executives attending the NDSU vs Buffs game. “EVERYDAY IS A JOB INTERVIEW🦬,” Corey wrote in his post. We can see from the images that there are around 31 NFL scouts and executives from around 18 different teams attending the game. Not only this, you can see that Deion is “THE” thing in CFB if you even check the ticket prices for the game. The least expensive option is around $107. However, the presence of the NFL scouts is a big thing for Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Both kids are on multiple lists of top 5 draft picks for the NFL next year. From what we read on ESPN’s Jordan Reid’s scouting review of Shedeur Sanders, the kid has to make it explosive this year. Reid had noted, “he (Shedeur) needs to show a bit more against the better teams on Colorado’s schedule.” This is solely because of the lackluster performance the QB had last year because of a leaky offense on the team.

Reid has pointed out that multiple NFL scouts and executives have already put Shedeur “in the first tier of passers in the 2025 class.” The final straw will be how he manages to survive this year’s schedule and how much improvement he has made on his dropbacks and pocket plays. Hunter, on the other hand, is the mystery pick. Matt McChesney had pointed out back on August 13th, “Pray to God that he (Hunter) gets drafted by somebody that’s young and smart.” The only HC who we think could fit the mold would be Antonio Pierce from the Raiders. Pierce and Deion already know each other, so it will make things much easier for Hunter to settle in. However, in terms of draft pick, Hunter still has to show that he has improved as a CB. Daniel Jeremiah noted in his scouting report that Hunter is solid when he is playing as a WR and has the ball in his hands. However, as a CB, he tends to get too exhausted. This will also act as a big measure of where he will head next. However, before the boys hit the ground against the Bisons, Shedeur got hit by major praise, which probably no one had seen coming.

Shedeur Sanders, the “best player NDSU has played”

Back on August 27th, during a press conference with NDSU HC Tim Polasek, Shedeur got a major shout-out. Tim went on to mention during the interview that Shedeur is probably the best QB the Bisons have ever played against. “He can play off a platform,” Tim had noted while praising Shedeur’s ability to perform well under pressure and make big plays because of his accuracy.

We all know that last year, while the Buffs did go on a 6 game-losing streak, Shedeur and the boys had made a solid starting run with 3 consecutive wins. Shedeur should get the credit for those. However, the Bisons have had a better rush and defense as compared to the Buffs. Last year itself, the Buffs had around 170+ rush yards, whereas NDSU had 230+. This year’s changes to the O-line are sure to flip the script. However, this is a CFB people. Anything can happen on August 31st.
