Buffs vs the Knights. This is going to be good. From what we saw Deion Sanders and his boys pull off against Baylor, it’s safe to say that the team could give UCF quite the fight. What you gotta keep in mind this time is that the defense has been a major support for the team. With Robert Livingstone changing up the D-line, the Buffs have reached a spot where top defenses like the Huskers stand. However, Deion Sanders also has to remember that UCF is a run-heavy team, and it’s all because of their HC. So, it ain’t no wonder why Coach Prime just couldn’t stop himself from singing praises for UCF HC.
On the September 24th press conference on DNVR Sports, Deion hypes up HC Gus Malzahn, before the Buffs vs UCF showdown. “I love what Coach Malzahn has brought to college football. He does it his way, unapologetically, and he’s with a bunch of Florida boys, my home state, which I adore,” Deion mentioned. The Knights are having an amazing run this season. With Malzahn leading the team, UCF is already 3-0 heading into Week 5. Some major pointers that we saw from the UCF games were the fact that the team is crawling with veterans and senior players.
They have managed to run the ball extremely well in all 3 of their games and their QB KJ Jefferson is not someone you should be taken lightly. This guy is big and strong and knows how to throw and run. What Gus Malzahn has managed to do with the roster this year is quite beautiful. “It’s going to be a great game,” Deion noted. As we pointed out before, the major concern heading into this game would be the O-line.

Well, after the Huskers’ defeat, we did see Deion’s offense improve considerably during the Rams and the Baylor game. Still, there is much left to be desired. If the O-line fails to protect Shedeur, then this game is pretty much over. The one advantage that Coach Prime has is that the defense will be able to handle the runs from UCF quite well. Last season Deion’s D-line continued to give in around 35 points in each game.

After Sean Kelly left the defensive coordinator role and Livingstone took it up, we saw how smooth and improved the overall defense feels like. Travis Hunter is another guy who would be a major asset during this game. Hunter managed to shock the world with his performance against the Rams and Baylor. Breaking a record during the Rocky Mountain Showdown and then going on to grab the win for the Buffs with a game-winning fumble during overtime against the Bears. However, don’t think UCF is going to let Deion Sanders take the win that easily.
What Gus Malzahn has in store for Deion Sanders
If Shedeur Sanders gets the proper protection and doesn’t have to do everything to win, then this guy can literally achieve anything on the field. This is something Matt McChesney had noted way back. And we saw this come true against Colorado St. and Baylor.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Gus Malzahn's unapologetic style exactly what college football needs to shake things up?
Have an interesting take?
Shedeur managed to drag the game into overtime against the Bears with a beautiful Hail Mary to LaJohntay Wester with only 2-3 seconds remaining on the clock. And this is why Malzahn and the Knights’ main target would be pressuring Shedeur Sanders. “You got to put pressure on him. There’s no doubt,” Malzahn mentioned during the UCF press conference.
So far, the Knights have done a great job in pressuring quarterbacks. While TCU did give them quite the fight, the boys still managed to secure a close 35-34 win. With the run-heavy offense, Shedeur can find himself in a lot of trouble.
