Is Deion Sanders' response to criticism proof that true champions never back down?

The king of the Buffaloes still has the fighting spirit in him! Transitioning from a Hall of Fame football career to being a coach in college alludes that the person wants to ease things in life and adjust to a less aggressive role but that’s not the case for Coach Prime. He’s been a tiger on the field during his NFL days as ‘Prime Time’ and is now growing the mane of a lion as ‘Coach Prime’ in the world of college football. Just because he’s on the sidelines doesn’t mean he has forgotten to lock horns, as Deion himself was heard saying about his competitive spirit.

The Colorado Buffaloes have yet to flourish under Deion Sanders. While the public is quick to constantly churn out criticism of his time in Boulder, they seem to conveniently forget that he’s been one of the most competitive athletes in American history. To date, Deion is the only person in the world to have played a World Series in MLB and to have won a Super Bowl in the NFL. That certainly sounds like a person who wouldn’t stop at anything to ensure he’s the best competitor out of everyone else. And that’s exactly what the Colorado HC had to say in response to a reporter who downplayed his sense of competition.

Deion Sanders is still a gladiator at heart

It’s not a normal occurrence that Deion likes a question that is posed to him by a reporter since we’ve seen him lash out at a CBS reporter in the past. More so than liking the question, Deion thought it was a “great” question when he was asked whether this is the most competitive he’s felt going into this season. The coach answered the question with great zeal and enthusiasm as he spoke in length about why he’s still a person with a strong desire to be the best even outside of the football field.

Deion talked about how he’s competitive to the absolute ‘T’, even when it comes to something as materialistic as endorsements. He further added how he’s a “competitive-natured person, not only with sports but with life.” Coach Prime expressed a great trait to him when he went on to say, ” I want you all to win in life. I don’t want anybody in this room to lose. I want you guys to be successful, but let’s go about it the right way.” Thus, the Colorado HC seems to have a mindset of winning going into this season but while his confidence can be believed, is he at the same level of competition when it comes to his team? Apparently so, since the Buffaloes look tremendous as per Deion.

“Idiot if you don’t want to win,” says Coach Prime

Have an interesting take?

Deion Sanders sat well poised in a room full of reporters for the Colorado Football Week 1 Presser ahead of the North Dakota State Home opener. Seeing as he blew up on reporters the last time he was in front of a mic, Deion was surprisingly well-mannered when it came to the rapid questions that were directed at him on 24th August. Seeing as how there are a lot of expectations attached to his team, he was asked about what his team looks like for this season. Both for the good and bad, Deion only had one word to describe his team’s status- “tremendous”.

Deion addressed the question and talked about how it’s stupid if you don’t target winning as both a player and a coach. He also said, “I don’t think even in my career when I played, I never talked about what I was going to do, contrary to what you all believe. I want to win certainly. You got to be an idiot if you don’t want to win in life or you don’t want to win as a coach, that’s just stupidity.” Accordingly, he seems to be ready with a heart that contains a fire to keep on winning and be as different as possible from the 2023 Colorado Buffaloes, who will be looking to redeem their dreams of a playoff spot this year.
