Is Deion Sanders the game-changer Colorado needed to dominate college football again?

It’s wild to think what Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have managed to get done for Deion Sanders and the Buffs during the showdown against Baylor. The 2024 season is the year of redemption and Coach Prime is definitely making it count. The boys are currently standing at a 3-1 run and from what we have seen, the overall performance has been much better than what Colorado pulled last year.

So, it ain’t no wonder why the entire recruitment momentum has now switched up for the Buffs. On the September 23rd episode of Inside Scoop from On3, Josh Newberg brings us some amazing details regarding Buffs’ recruitment. “By the time you’re watching this video, I don’t know how fast things are going to transpire here with Colorado recruiting, but the buzz around last night’s win is palpable,” Newberg mentioned.

There are 3 flips which are on the horizon. OT Carde Smith (currently committed to the Trojans), Safety Antonio Branch Jr (committed to Penn State), and finally Safety Byron Baldwin (currently committed to Indiana). Now, the biggest thing to keep in mind is that all 3 of these players are 4-star-rated recruits. Smith stands as the No.18 OT in the entire nation, followed by Branch Jr. as the No.37 ranked Safety nationally and Baldwin as the No.17 ranked Safety nationally. Deion is going to get such a massive boost if he manages to land these 3 players.

All of this success comes after the game against Baylor where Shedeur Sanders managed to drag to game to overtime through a miracle Hail Mary which LaJohntay Wester caught and converted into a touchdown. When the Bears almost managed to close the gap at the end, Travis Hunter came flying in and turned the touchdown from Bears RB into a fumble. With 38-31 on the scoreboard, the Buffs managed to win it on their home field.

However, the biggest thing to keep in mind is that this recruitment momentum is going to help out Coach Prime in another way. Next year, Shedeur and Hunter will be leaving for the NFL. This recruitment drive would allow Deion Sanders to pick out the next successor for his next dream roster. However, what we do gotta talk about are the Heisman odds and where Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter currently stand.

Deion Sanders is gonna be proud

Buffs fans wouldn’t be surprised if we see a Heisman winner and probably a Heisman runner-up from the Buffs roster. The Hail Mary and the last-second game decision that Shedeur made to make the game hit overtime is something not many QBs would think about.

And if we talk about Hunter, then this guy is out here breaking records. During the Rocky Mountain Showdown, Hunter managed to grab 13 catches, 2 touchdowns, 100 yards, and 1 defensive interception. The last time this was done was 26 years back.

As of now, Shedeur Sanders stands at a +6600 odds and is sitting outside the top 20 list for the Heisman Cup. However, Hunter is slowly climbing the ladder. This guy has a +3500 odd and is sitting on the No.12 spot. While Hurricanes QB Cam Ward is still the top candidate, we might see Shedeur and Hunter make it to the top 10 soon enough.
