Colorado Buffs’ star quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, and dual-threat player, Travis Hunter, are the unstoppable pair in college football. Their performance this season has significantly increased their odds of winning the Heisman Trophy. However, NFL star player Robert Lee Griffin III does seem much confounded by their gameplay, even after sharing a deep connection with Deion Sanders. Surprising right? Wait until you know what he did!
On October 4th, RGIII took to his X account to share his new Heisman Trophy frontrunner after week 5. We know RG III and Deion Sanders go way back. Deion Sanders has always stood by him in his tough times. Coach Prime consoled him when he was fired from ESPN, but his recent move has put their friendship in jeopardy. Why? The “Heisman Front Runners after Week 5” list shared by the former Redskin quarterback dropped Colorado’s Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders from no.1, Heisman runners rank.

RGIII shared the list where we can spot the top contender: Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, followed by Alabama’s QB Jalen Milroe. Then we have Buffs two-way player Travis Hunter and Miami’s QB Cam Ward. Finally, in the last two spots, we have Buffs QB Shedeur Sanders and JMU’s QB Alonza Barnett.
Well, looking at Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders’ performance against the UCF Knights last week, these rankings are coming off quite weird. Travis Hunter’s incredible interception hitting the Heisman Pose was nothing but an example of excellence. Even Shedeur Sanders was outstanding against UCF. He ran for 290 yards and completed 28 out of 35 passes with three touchdowns and one interception. If this is not a quality of top Heisman runners, what is? Also, this is not the first time RG III has ignored Buffs’ efforts.

Robert Griffin III giving a hard time to the Buffs
In case you were wondering, this isn’t the first time Robert Griffin III has not chosen Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter as top picks. After the Week 2 football games, Robert shared his top Heisman runners list, and the most surprising fact is that not a single name was there from the Colorado Buffs.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Deion Sanders just put friendship aside for honesty by dropping Shedeur and Hunter from Heisman?
Have an interesting take?
Well, their loss of 10-28 against the Huskers might be a reason for this action, but then what stopped him from giving Shedeur and Travis a top position this time?

However, after their game against the Knights, Fox Sports released their updated Heisman Trophy odds list, where QB Shedeur Sanders has +3500 odds and Travis Hunter is currently standing still with +360 odds, as Hunter is the Buffs leading receiver with 46 receptions, 561 yards, and six touchdowns. The star duo of Buffs is not only boosting their Heisman odds but also improving their chances of being chosen as top NFL draft picks in 2025.
Earlier, ESPN NFL draft expert Mel Kiper claimed Travis as the top NFL pick, saying, “He has been No. 1 on my Big Board all season, and he’s not going anywhere.” Even Shedeur Sanders was given preference over Georgia’s QB Carson Beck by NFL draft analyst Todd McShay. Let’s see if the Buffs’ next game against the Kansas State Wildcats can change Robert’s opinion.
