2024 was supposed to be different for the Colorado Buffaloes. Instead, they had a humiliating time as they trailed the Cornhuskers by 21 at halftime in Week 2. People expected a lot from Buffs’ Travis Hunter, but it was a different cornerback who shined— Tommi Hill. He lined up against Hunter several times and even stated, “I already knew if he going against me, he’s going to face a dog. I don’t care what his name was, he just knew he was going to get the best out of me.”
His biggest moment was in the first quarter when he intercepted and returned it for a touchdown, and naturally, Hunter was quite agitated and things got heated with their trash talk. With about 100,000 fans in attendance at the Colorado-Nebraska rivalry clash at the Memorial Stadium, things were proving embarrassing for Hunter and his team. They failed to be productive offensively as they fell 0-14 in the first quarter.
The Cornhuskers mainly targeted the Buffs stars, Shedeur Sanders and Hunter, forcing their plays into turnovers and interceptions. And this is where Travis Hunter showed his agitated side.

National Insider for NFL Network Ryan Evans uploaded an excerpt from Bussin’ With The Boys on X on September 7. It was a video of a fiasco between Deion Sanders and Travis Hunter. The caption read, “FIGHT: #Colorado Star Travis Hunter just ATTACKED Deion Sanders on the sidelines. Should Coach Prime cut this THUG?”
The video featured Deion Sanders offering advice to an already frustrated Travis Hunter on the sidelines. But it appeared that the two-way star remained defiant and displayed his irritation when he stepped into the field by removing his helmet.

Should Coach Prime cut this THUG? 😳

However, at the same time, social media users did not like the way Ryan Evans worded his tweet, as Hunter did not happen to attack ‘Coach Prime’ in any manner.

It may be shocking for some fans to see this side of Hunter who always seems to stay chill and collected. But again, this is young blood we are talking about and it is not uncommon to lose their cool in a losing game. Colorado’s first seven drives culminated in four punts, one turnover-on-downs, a missed field goal, and an interception. For someone as dedicated as Hunter, it’s not surprising this game triggered him. But there were other things that added to his dissatisfaction.
Take Shilo Sanders, for instance. The starting safety had to leave in the first quarter because of an injury. As per reports and even Deion Sanders’s admission, Shilo broke his arm. Later on, he was seen on the sidelines with a sling around his arm.
Further, Shedeur too wasn’t at his best. He completed only 61% of his passes (23-for-38) for 244 yards. The QB was sacked five times. Eventually, backup Ryan Staub completed the game.
Colorado Buffaloes and Nebraska Cornhuskers’ historic rivalry

It was clear from the first quarter that Colorado wasn’t prepared for Nebraska. But let us not forget their historic rivalry. Both sides have played 72 times in a series that dates back to 1898.
However, the Cornhuskers have an all-time lead against their bitter rivals, with a 49-21-2 record. Now, CU had the upper hand in recent games as they won all three games against the Nebraska Cornhuskers since they left the Big 12. This includes a 36-14 win from last season. But the tides have changed now.
This win for the Cornhuskers not only broke their three-game losing streak to the Buffaloes but also was their first win against their rivals since 2010. Their 28-10 victory was huge; thanks to their great defense. They are now on a 2-0 record for the first time since 2016.

Colorado trailed 0-21 by the start of the second quarter. But they failed to score any points. Instead, Nebraska sealed the halftime with another impressive 18-yard touchdown to clock the score at 0-28. Needless to say, every Buffs fan at the game was left devastated as their team suffered a massive loss. So far, they have played only in their home and the whole season is left.
What’s interesting for the Buffaloes is the fact that Travis Hunter had 10 catches for 110 yards. However, no other Colorado player had more than 59 yards of offense.
