The Colorado Buffaloes have gone from ranking at the bottom last of the conference in 2023 to being at the 2nd position in the Big 12 conference, with just 5 games played. It is apparent that a new era of the Buffs has begun and if they consistently give performances like these, then this is a playoff team undoubtedly.

Their 48-21 win against the UCF Knights really secured their credibility in this conference and are now being looked to with a lot of hope rather than exasperation, which is usually what Coach Prime and his team are subjected to. Yet, their loss at the hands of the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be that one thorn in their sides that they couldn’t pull out. And now that the Buffaloes are on the rise, the haters will use the game against the Cornhuskers as the means to shut down their superiority status.

On the 1st October episode of the ‘Zero 2 Sixty with Matt McChesney show, the former Colorado alumni and Bailey Price sat down together to discuss everything related to the Buffaloes. At the beginning of the episode, Price asked McChesney to respond to the Colorado haters, which he chose to avoid with a subtle response.

McChesney was heard remarking about the Nebraska game and said, “Well I don’t really have anything to say to them, the play speaks for itself and I’m not going to set myself up by acting like the season’s over. I thought we would be in this position. I knew the Nebraska game would be f****** hard. Obviously, I’m picking CU but I knew it would be hard. I’ll take three to one like in the last four times we played Nebraska. We’re up three to one so, I’ll fall back on that and you can fall back on your victory this year. Congratulations but I don’t really need to say anything to the haters anymore.”

Going against the Colorado haters is like trying to straighten a dog’s tail, a battle that cannot be won. This is exactly what McChesney had to emulate since the Colorado skeptics always seem to find one way or the other to bring the team down. With that being said, let’s take a look at the predictions that Matt Rhule, the Nebraska head coach, had to make after their win against Colorado.

Matt Rhules’ predictions about the Buffaloes came true

The Colorado Buffaloes were off to a great start when they defeated the North Dakota State Bisons in their season opener. Alas! They couldn’t rake in a win against their staunch rivals, the Cornhuskers, who they’ve been able to vanquish in the past 3 consecutive seasons. Though it set a bad precedent for Deion Sanders and his team, Matt Rhule made a bold prediction for their team which has now come true, in retrospect.

Can Deion Sanders' UCF win erase the sting of Nebraska's humiliating defeat for Colorado fans?

Rhule was heard talking about the Buffaloes in his post-game conference and said, “That’s a really good football team. They’ll make a ton of noise in the Big 12. Guarding number five (receiver Jimmy Horn Jr.) and guarding number 12 (two-way star Travis Hunter) and guarding number two (Shedeur Sanders), those are as good of players as you’ll play against. On the defensive side, they’re as active and violent of a defense as we’ll see.”

Now that Hunter is being considered to be a notable Heisman candidate with both Jimmy Horn and Shedeur showing off exceptional skills, this is a team that could rout all of their next opponents, if only their consistency is kept up to the mark.
