Shelomi Sanders shines in Alabama debut—are we witnessing the rise of another Sanders sports legend?

Colorado coach Deion Sanders not only just left an unfathomable legacy in his career trajectory but also instilled the same seed of passion in his offspring. Four of his five kids have been flying high in their respective sports fields, with just one (Deiondra Sanders) making it big in the fashion industry. Coach Prime’s last born, Shelomi Sanders, kick-started her college basketball career in earnest. After cutting ties with the Colorado Lady Buffs in April, the kid made an electrifying Alabama debut last Monday. She was absolutely on a tear, tallying 14 points, one assist, one rebound, and two steals in a tiff fight against Oakwood, and received a boosting message from her mother.

Pilar Sanders, who is no longer carrying the Deion Sanders wife tag is all about her kids. Right after the blockbuster performance of her daughter, Pilar heaped congratulations on her and the team. But this is not it. The typical mother instinct can’t help but go beyond to hype up the child’s epic achievement. Appreciating all the hard work Shelomi put on to come this far over the years, mom Sanders posted a highlight clip of her fiery performance and wrote, ”Once you KNOW In / About Yourself and you Keep Pushing everyone else’s Beliefs won’t matter. They’ll see what we’ve been knowing for years! #gobossy #shelomisanders #aamuwbb #hbcu #proudmom #gameday #sniper #22.”

Enough motivation for Shelomi Sanders to bulk up for the next win? We would love to believe so. Pilar Sanders has always been the biggest cheerleader for her kids. She was often snapped at the audience seat of the regular Lady Buffs games last season. The lady ensures the air of eternal love and unconditional support prevails over the mother-daughter equation. She equally maintains harmonious terms with her other kids, including sons Shilo and Shedeur Sanders’.

Not only does Shelomi have her mother’s back, rather the rousing basketball star makes a beautiful bridge between her split-up parents, giving them a common ground to celebrate. The legendary Coach Prime is a proud father. As soon as the 20-year-old wrapped up her eye-catching performance, Dad Sanders took to his social media to pat on the back of her bossy daughter.

But things weren’t the same when Shelomi Sanders entered the transfer portal after living through a performance drought in her former program. The decision to live in Boulder made the father-daughter relationship salty, even if for a little while.

Have an interesting take?

Deion Sanders, the quintessential flag bearer of Boulder, was clearly pissed off about his child’s moving out the decision. ‘‘You get a team before you enter the portal. That’s what I would advise a kid. I know, Well, it’s illegal. C’mon, man. Everybody knows somebody who knows somebody, who knows somebody. You kind of want them to do something, and she has been truly advised. I’m a real father. Where I come from, historically, kids follow their parents. When did parents start following the kids?..” Sanders didn’t sugarcoat his words while venting frustration about his daughter’s first independent move. He is the leader of the family and its generational tradition to dictate to the kids where to go and not vice versa, a real father exclaimed on the DVNR Buffs podcast.

However, Mama Sanders didn’t buy his typical father’s syndrome well and posted a long social media video to answer against the tirades. She passively made him understand that if a kid in his young adult era decides to carve out his/her own path, that too, by not overpowering the parents, by not being disrespectful to them, they are at no fault. The girl just wants to play her ball and does what suits her the best.

Coach Sanders seemingly understood how his ego self taking over and corrected it, eventually. Everything, by now, looks great between the father-daughter duo as the Colorado head coach chose to pay off for his behavior with a $90 million Blender glasses to her daughter to commemorate her success in the new school.
