Deion Sanders must be over the moon after that incredible 48-21 win against UCF. It was the Knights’ first loss of the season, and it bumped the Buffs up to a solid 4-1 record in the Big 12. But even with all this good news, Coach Prime seems to be having a bit of a memory lapse. Right after the game, he had some mixed feelings about Travis Hunter’s Heisman pose, which was pretty surprising considering Hunter’s amazing performance. Now, he’s singing a completely different tune. Looks like someone’s got a case of double standards!
Today after the game, Coach Prime had a post-win press conference where a reporter asked him about dual-threat Travis Hunter’s interception hitting the Heisman pose. But Deion Sanders gave a surprising response to it, saying, “I didn’t see that he did,” to which the reporter confirmed him and said, “He hit the Heisman pose, and the camera caught it pretty well.”
Well, Coach Prime also added to it, saying, “This is who he is, man. The guy works his b–t off at practice. That’s why nobody trips when he gets Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday off. Nobody says anything because if they did, I’d say, ‘Do what he does, and you’ll get those days off too.’ It’s just that simple. He plays 100-some snaps in a game, and he never tires.”
Despite his current appreciation towards Travis Hunter, Deion Sanders completely contradicted his previous viewpoint. During his post-game conference speech, Sanders slammed his two-way star’s viral pose and his gameplay, saying, “We were really upset because they just told me he needed yards to and consistently have his 100-yard streak, and we were going to try to get it to him, but we didn’t want to be outlandish or do anything crazy to provoke ignorance.” Well, looks like someone had a change of heart now!
Travis Hunter absolutely stole the show. Not only did he intercept the Knights’ star QB, KJ Jefferson, but he also had a fantastic run to the end zone, complete with a signature Heisman pose. Well, that’s his second interception of the season, by the way! He also made a huge impact as a receiver, catching nine passes for 89 yards and a touchdown. With his sixth receiving score of the year, Hunter’s Heisman Trophy chances are looking stronger than ever.
Travis Hunter’s Heisman Trophy odds
The Heisman pose of Travis Hunter is impossible to ignore. His recent feats have surely added value to his candidacy for the Heisman Trophy. After the first 4 games, Hunter’s Heisman odds have increased drastically, and with over 750 odds, he’s currently leading the rankings. Even CBS Sports reported that Travis Hunter is now one of the highest-scoring players of the season who has managed to accumulate over five receiving touchdowns and multiple interceptions since 2000.
Even former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman, who questioned his dual-game ability, has also changed his opinion. After the game, Richard took to X to discuss his Heisman fate, saying, “If the Heisman is going to the best player in college football, they are going to have a tough time not giving it to @TravisHunterJr.” With all the hype surrounding him, it’s no surprise that fans are already waving ‘HE12MAN’ banners at his games. Now, if Hunter can sustain his current statistical pace, he will surely achieve new records and will be considered one of the top CFB stars in the entire nation.
