1998. Champ Bailey ended the season with UGA with a Bronko Nagurski Award win. The legend managed to pick off 3 passes as a CB, but at the same time managed to grab 5 touchdowns for more than 700 yards. Who’s doing all of this now? Travis Hunter. You see, bringing in 3 touchdowns as a WR, along with an interception and pulling this feat off in 2 different games, gets you something. For Travis Hunter? It got him the Heisman finalist spot. Whatever this guy has done for the Buffs, it has never been done before in the last 25 years of FBS history. Deion Sanders’ golden child is in the race, and all he needs right now are best wishes.
“He’s everything a coach would ever want in a player; as a leader, as a dog, he checks all boxes,” Coach Prime dropped in some big words about Hunter, and it was about time Deion’s daughter Deiondra Sanders joined the bandwagon to show support for Hunter’s Heisman rights. Deiondra Sanders took to her Instagram story to share a post from X. See, Hunter managed to win 2 different awards for his defense and offense plays. He grabbed the Chuck Bednarik Award for the best defensive player in college football and followed that up with a Biletnikoff Award win. Now, this one is given to the best receiver in college football.
The Instagram story Deiondra shared had a simple question on it: “The haters are not going to like this. How does someone win the best defensive player and best wide receiver if they’re mid at both positions?” See, there is no debate about this. Hunter managed to pull over 150 snaps for the Buffs.

Now, if you are gonna say that he is a snap-padding athlete, then you are dead wrong. Roll back the game tapes, and you will see how good Hunter is. 4 interceptions in 12 games? That’s like the 4th best in the entire country. Follow that up with 31 tackles on the defense and 11 pass breakups, and you will pretty much get one of the best players in the nation.

And for the offense? Do we even have to explain? Over a 1000 yards with 14 touchdowns. There is a reason Travis Hunter is at -2500 odds on almost every website. He is leading the charge and has a much better chance of grabbing the Heisman over Ashton Jeanty. Even Notre Dame HC Marcus Freeman thinks so. QB dominance is over, folks. It’s about time someone slides in and takes the reins. A few hours and we gonna find out who that trophy goes to. At the same time, even if Hunter ends up losing the award, we know he’s gonna come with a bang for the Alamo Bowl.

One final game for Travis Hunter
Yep. That is right. When most senior players call their Bowl appearances off, Hunter out here is going to play for the Buffs. Initially, he did joke that he wants a $5 million payday to play for the Buffs, but that was pretty much a joke.
We gonna see Hunter play one last game before hitting the drafts. The Alamo will give Deion Sanders a chance to win against the 2nd ranked team in the Big 12: BYU. And it ain’t only Hunter who is coming back.
