Woah! That’s some nasty piece of news for Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes. Until now, they were enjoying an edge in the Julian Lewis mission. But not anymore. As found on the August 14 episode of Locked On Buffs, host Kevin Borba, with guest Brian Smith, concluded that the Buffs will face some real threat. And guess who would be the fearsome foe? Of course, Curt Cignetti and his Indiana Hoosiers tribe. Here comes the chance of Deion’s last chance narrative getting true, which would be catastrophic. But what would act as a loyalty spell for Indiana to secure Lewis’ trust?
The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder five-star USC QB Lewis is everybody’s dream. Till now it was only Deion and Colorado who has been in the limelight. Coach Prime left no stone unturned to woo Lewis. From assigning their super fan 99-year-old Peggy Coppom to root for Lewis to naming the famous burger from a Boulder joint after the QB, Deion has done it all. It’s high time that the Buffs HC buckles up! Here the Indiana HC enters to steal Deion’s spotlight. As Smith highlighted, “First off Curt Cignetti the coach there is a very good football coach, right not a lot of people know him he took the long route…but he can coach.”

Meanwhile USC and Auburn are out of the race, “USC has kind of turned their attention to Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet and then obviously Auburn has turned their attention to Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight.” Hence, it’s now a Buffs and Hoosiers duel to finish. And here comes the catastrophic angle for Colorado.

Now that Lewis will be taking up Shedeur’s place since this season is the QB’s last chapter before he heads off to the NFL, Coach Prime will have nothing to look up to. “Deion’s not there like he needs to have something to hold on to after his son leaves why would I stay if we’re not going to be good like if they have a bad season with his kid that’s gonna be a first-round pick and we’re not getting Julian why am I here, so I think it’ll be catastrophic,” pointed out Smith. And here’s why Indiana will have an edge over the Buffs.

Like Smith, recruiting analyst Tom Loy also thinks that Cignetti’s Hoosiers will have an upper hand in seeking Lewis’ trust. The national recruiting analyst for 247Sports gave a detailed calculation, “The teams to watch – Indiana, Colorado and to a lesser extent, Auburn… then around the start of July it seemed like they both kind of parted ways and Auburn started focusing its attention more on Deuce Knight.” And if given a chance to choose between the two as far as Lewis is concerned, Loy is confident about his answer.

Here the analyst dropped the real reason behind Hoosier’s advantage in mission Lewis, “If I had to pick between the two, I would give the edge to Indiana…We all know about the relationship with Tino Sunseri.” The USC quarterback has been obsessed with Indiana’s co-offensive coordinator, Sunseri. He has previously held the position of Colorado’s defensive line coach.
Lewis once told On3, “Coach Tino’s been my guy for a long time. He was like the first guy to really kind of open my dad’s eyes and my eyes to the whole college football thing…I probably wouldn’t have thought about it if coach Tino wasn’t there and stuff.” Will Deion now lose Lewis to his ex-staff?
