Can Deion Sanders' admiration for Andy Reid inspire the Buffs to clinch the Big 12 Championship?

Just one day before the Colorado vs Kansas game! Deion Sanders and the Buffs are already in Kansas City, Missouri to play their Week 13 game against Kansas. Now that the Jayhawks’ stadium is under renovation, they’ve been playing most of their 2024 games at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. So this gave the Buffs HC the opportunity to meet a familiar face.

Deion Sanders is feeling ecstatic about having one of the greatest coaches beside him. In a new IG post on November 23, the Buffs HC posted a picture of him standing beside Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid. And his caption summarized his admiration and respect for the 3x SB champion — “1 of my Heroes, Pure Class, ANDY REID!!!! Enough Said.”

Andy Reid has shown that he’s not backsliding in his 12th season with the Chiefs. After leading his team to three Super Bowl wins, they’re en-route for their fourth win as they lead the season 9-1 as the No. 1 AFC team. No wonder he’s just signed a hefty five-year contract extension of $100M which will pay him $20M annually. With this contract, he’s now the highest-paid NFL coach.

A great coach always has another legendary coach who serves as an influence. And given that Deion Sanders picked the 66-year-old legend as his idol, good things will come. And it has started. Of course, the Buffs HC is still yet to match Reid’s coaching caliber but he’s inching his way towards greatness. In his second year, he has led Colorado as a worthy contender for the Big 12 Championship with an 8-2 record. Their upcoming game against Kansas is crucial as it will impact their conference standings.

Colorado remains focused for Kansas game

Coming in as a 3-point favorite, Colorado looks to fight for their Big 12 Championship spot after improving their record to 8-2 after the 49-24 win against Utah. But a 4-game win streak doesn’t mean you can start getting complacent. And the Buffs two-way star Travis Hunter is making sure the Buffs don’t lose their focus in the upcoming matchup against the Jayhawks.

For Travis Hunter, it’s not about the opponents. He said, “It’s not even about the FBs or about Kansas, it’s about us… We know we’re on a mission, we got a goal that we’re trying to achieve.” Kansas and Oklahoma State are the two final Big 12 challengers for Colorado’s conference title hopes. Can Colorado play well in the presence of Coach Prime’s idol and give more faith to all the Black and Gold fans?
