Woah! The 2024 season just got a political angle. And who else to reel in the controversy other than Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes? Coach Prime took some time out from his post-game conference to address the former President. Well, it all started with Barack Obama dropping a bold claim in Arizona’s favor before the Buffs faced off Wildcats on October 19. Now that Brent Brennan’s squad got crushed by Deion’s army, how could the Buffs HC just keep shut? Deion then came up with a jab for Obama. However, the CFB fans got upset about Coach Prime making everything about himself and Colorado.
Besides the college football fever, the upcoming election campaigns are also going in full swing. A day before the Arizona vs Colorado face-off, ex-President Obama had the chance to address a crowd in Tucson for Vice President Kamala Harris. And he grabbed the perfect opportunity to make use of the CFB fever, “As we landed, we saw Colorado’s busses at the airport,” Obama said, drawing jeers from the crowd. What followed had left Deion and Co. with ruffled feathers as the ex-President quipped, “And I know Colorado’s got a couple good players. But I also know you guys have beaten them [CU] twice in a row.”

He referred to the 2023 season when the Wildcats crushed the Buffs 44-31 and in 2022 when Colorado lost to Arizona 43-20. While Deion came off as a cool HC, deep down he waited to drop in with a sharp answer. Well, Coach Prime started with a sweet tone, “President Obama is everything to me. I mean I loved him I admired him I respect him tremendously.”
The Buffs HC immediately switched to, “But I heard what he said…President, I heard what you said. Man, like come on…he was here and had to play the political game…we got more than two good players.” But did Deion’s reaction come off well with the fans? Well, it doesn’t seem so.

CFB fans rally behind ex-President and not Deion Sanders
CFB world is known for their blind support of their favorite programs, but this time, Obama received full backing. For instance, a fan commented on how the ex-President had no foul intention while hyping up the Wildcats. The comment read, “Taken out of context. Obama meant no disrespect here.” Another fan is left confused about finding the reason for Obama to strip off Deion’s Buffs and suggested Coach Prime refrain from self-absorption, “Why would he intentionally shade Buffs…stop looking for shyt to be offended by. Prime won’t win this skirmish. He’s not bigger than BO.”
What’s your perspective on:
Did Deion Sanders go too far with his jab at Obama, or is it all in good fun?
Have an interesting take?
“Prime stop feeding into everything you hear,” came up another fan requesting Deion to be mindful about what they feed their mind with. Maybe the ex-president wanted to boost Arizona’s morale in the light of what they have achieved so far. He had no plans to downplay Deion and Colorado’s talent. A fan thus commented, “I believe BO meant that metaphorically. Smh.”

“Prime takes everything personal like a broad,” commented another fan hinting as if Coach Prime acts like a magnet to attract negative comments that are not even meant for him or his program. Maybe it’s time for Deion Sanders to stop freaking out about what others are saying and revamp his game plan now that his dual-threat Travis Hunter has taken a backseat.
