With an O-line that’s more of a wet wafer biscuit, Shedeur Sanders still managed to surprise all with his play against the Wildcats. Locking in 388 yards along with 3 touchdowns, it ain’t no wonder why he is one of the GOATs in the current CFB world. And this marks the rise in his NFL draft stock. Despite the Buffs losing to the Wildcats, Shedeur Sanders managed to prove that he still got it despite being crippled and losing out on his best friend.
So, naturally, when the question comes regarding the NFL draft worries, Deion Sanders brushes it off. In the latest video from DNVR Sports, Deion Sanders mentioned, “I think you guys are concerned about that. We’ve always been what we are. Um, we walked down that sideline I’m the father. When we come back I’m the coach.” This was right after a journalist asked the critical question of how Coach Prime deals with the entire draft fiasco and the father-coach dilemma.
Heading into the 2024 season, Deion Sanders had one glaring priority—strengthening the offensive line to protect his star quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. Despite bringing in six new linemen and implementing multiple changes, it all unraveled during the game against Nebraska. Shedeur was visibly frustrated, and for good reason. With little protection, he had no room to work his magic.

But everything changed after the Rocky Mountain Showdown. The o-line started to gel, and Shedeur reminded everyone why he’s one of the most electric players in college football. He lit up the field against Colorado State, showcasing just what he can do when he has time. The real highlight, however, came during the Baylor showdown.
With the clock ticking down and the pocket collapsing, Shedeur had a split second to make a decision—and boy, did he deliver. A 40+ yard Hail Mary to LaJohntay Wester sent the game into overtime, where Travis Hunter, back in the spotlight, sealed the win with a game-winning fumble recovery. It was the kind of heart-stopping play that elevates teams into legend.
Now, fast forward to the present. Even without Hunter, who’s sidelined with an injury, Shedeur managed to pull off another impressive stat line against the Wildcats, showcasing his ability to lead even when the odds aren’t in his favor. Deion has expertly balanced his roles as both father and coach, and Shedeur’s growth on the field is living proof of that. But as the Buffs press on, the big question looms—what does the future hold now that Coach Prime has lost some of his best players to injury?

Can Deion Sanders and Co. bounce back?
The D-line, arguably the biggest pride of Coach Prime and the Buffs, performed on a level no one had expected. Go back to the UCF game and check the tape. The defense had Knights QB and RB on lockdown and barely allowed the Knights to perform their iconic run game.
But with Wildcats on the turf, that same glamour was nowhere. The wildest part about all of this is the fact that against Kansas State, the defensive line was supposed to be even stronger. Shilo Sanders was back on the turf after recovering from his injury and Deion had full access to all of his defensive starters. Yet, the Wildcats managed to trample over the Buffs with their run game.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, 3 key players from the roster were injured. The first was superstar Travis Hunter who was out for the latter half of the game because of a shoulder injury. The next 2 players were Jimmy Horn Jr. and Omarion Miller (both had ankle injuries). While Coach Prime has mentioned that Hunter will be back for the next Buffs game, we still don’t know if he will be at his peak performance level.
