Is Deion Sanders' focus on Shedeur hurting Travis Hunter's Heisman chances? What do you think?

Steve Kim always keeps his raw opinions on Deion Sanders and his sons on the surface. Earlier in May, he called out the Buffs HC and Shedeur Sanders amid their social media war with Xavier Smith. He had then stated that the problem with Colorado is that “they’re the only ones that had a coach and his sons” initiating and fueling beef with exiting players. Even this time, Kim is finding an issue with the father-son duo.

Colorado is currently heading 2-1 into Week 4 and one of their players has risen above the rest to be a likely Heisman Trophy contender. Yes, it’s their two-way athlete Travis Hunter who is winning the attention and interest of even NFL scouts. And while he deserves undistracted attention for his Heisman race, Steve Kim observed that as long as he’s part of Colorado, he’ll be overshadowed.

Steve Kim joined Coach JB and Big Smitty to talk about Travis Hunter under Sanders’ shadow. According to Steve Kim, “Travis Hunter is actually overshadowed by this Deion Sanders – Shedeur Sanders. ” He went on to say that in every Hunter’s Heisman Trophy news, Shedeur’s name somehow gets thrown into it as well. However, this didn’t change Kim’s perception of Travis Hunter as the best college football player.

After his stellar performance so far this season, Travis Hunter is a promising Heisman Trophy contender for many people. In the new YouTube episode on The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty on September 18, Steve Kim went on to laud the Buffs 2-way player for his athleticism and versatility saying, “We will never see another player, in my view, that’ll be a shutdown corner and a wide receiver one and be productive, and be All-American caliber on both sides of the ball at the same time.”

According to a report by Sports Illustrated, Travis Hunter is the “one player who should be the front-runner at this early stage.” Hunter recorded 123 of 138 snaps against CSU in their 28-9 victory. He finished with 100 receiving yards, an interception, and five tackles. In three games played, Hunter’s total is 388 snaps, with an average of 129 snaps per game. On defense, he recorded 11 tackles, broke two passes, and made one interception. It’s no wonder he won the Paul Hornung Award despite Colorado falling 4-8 last season.
