After his pinky finger, Shilo Sanders’ forearm now demands attention. And guess what who were on the list of hospital visitors? Had to be the Buffs safety’s loving parents- Deion Sanders and his ex-wife Pilar Sanders. Before you get too excited about Coach Prime and Pilar coming close, it’s time for some big reveal.

What’s it like to be in the same place but at different timings? That’s what Deion and his ex-wife follow. Out of concern, they had rushed to see Shilo but ensured that the time gap was maintained. It seems that the Shelomi saga still hasn’t exactly thawed things out.

Surgery brings Deion Sanders and his ex-wife together but not at the same time

Right from the time Shilo had stepped into the health center till the time he was taken for the surgery, his caring mother, Pilar was there beside her son. It was evident from her face that she was worried. For this Shilo tried to lift her mood by running here and there which worked like magic as the mother soon stated, “You have not changed you are the exact same way as you were when you were five.” Laying on the bed, when the Buffs safety was sharing the physical pain he had to go through, Pilar listened to it with all her attention. However, at that time Deion could not be spotted, not even for once.

As the Buffs fans got too intrigued about Coach Prime’s attendance, the Buffs HC made his grand entry only after the surgery when Pilar had already left. Even though Shilo was under the influence of anesthesia knowing that Deion came to visit him, he could not help but drop a sarcastic jab, “That’s good co-parenting.” He was then greeted by his father’s loving call, “Where’s my Bob?” But what made the former couple master the art of avoiding each other?

Shelomi Sanders’ flip distanced her from Deion Sanders

Last year had been too rough for their younger daughter, Shelomi Sanders. Initially when Deion joined CU, the basketball phenom committed to the Buffaloes women’s basketball team. However, things did not turn in her favor when she got to play only 11 minutes in five games in the 2024 season. Shelomi’s woes further intensified when she broke her thumb during the preseason practice and got benched for the first six games.

Amidst such tumultuous times, Deion’s daughter decided to flip and commit to Alabama A&M. Pilar was the only one to be there beside her daughter as she gave a shoutout to Shelomi on Instagram posting her video with the caption, “We got thangs to do.” However, Coach Prime was nowhere in the scene. Instead, he tagged Shelomi’s move as “stupid” and got real with her for breaking the tradition by making the career choices by herself without consulting with him.

Things further started to turn bitter, when during a chat with his kids, Deion Sanders mentioned himself as the “father of four” instead of five. It was clear that with one move, Shelomi got struck off from her father’s list of favorites. Shilo’s surgery was the perfect excuse for a family reunion, but they decided to keep their distance.
