So, what has Travis Hunter not done this year? When was the last time any of us saw a 2-way player make so much impact? The Champ Bailey era back in 1998 was the only thing that was close enough. When you reel Travis Hunter’s generational plays this season, it makes it clear as day why this guy won the Heisman with landslide votes against the other contestants. Never has any player, in the last 25 years, managed to snag 3 touchdowns with 1 interception in 2 different games. Travis Hunter did it, and from that moment on, every Buffs fan knew that he would pick up that trophy.

But now that the dust has settled and you finally take a look at the total votes, it makes you think how close it got between Hunter and Ashton Jeanty. 2231 points vs 2017 points. Now, for the average fan, this wouldn’t mean much. More so because the 2-way has already won. For Deion Sanders, though? This close call still stings. “First of all, it was too close. Cmon, man. We’ve seen all the other stuff before… We ain’t never seen this before (Travis Hunter). So, how could it even be close?” Coach Prime pointed out. Here’s the thing. It got close because Jeanty was good.

While Hunter was out there setting records, Jeanty was here breaking them, and every Boise fan would agree that they had never seen such talent on that team before. We haven’t even seen such talent before. Last time, any player who had that much impact as a running back was probably Derrick Henry or even Mark Ingram.

And even when we compare Jeanty’s stats with what Henry or Ingram did, this Broncos star had easily edged past those previous Heisman-winning RBs by mid-season. See, we all will agree that what Hunter did on both sides of the football could never be recreated again. At least not so soon.

But then again, we cannot just say that Jeanty didn’t deserve a lot of votes. Everyone knew that QB dominance would be broken this year, and that has happened. Deion Sanders’ golden child has got that trophy, so why even be salty about the final votes? Keeping that one aside. There is still something we would love to discuss. Didn’t Shedeur Sanders deserve to be a finalist as well?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Shedeur Sanders' Heisman snub justified, or did the voters miss the mark this year?

Shedeur Sanders Heisman snub

When the final Heisman rankings dropped, many were quite surprised. Shedeur ended on the 8th spot and somehow Cam Ward was up on the 4th. This kind of makes you wonder why. From a game perspective, we will agree that the Hurricanes ended the year with a 10-win season. That is massive.

Ward, for the Canes offense, was on fire. But then again, when Miami went up against “good” teams, all Ward did was choke. Yellow Jackets defense managed to walk all over that guy, and then somehow, the Syracuse team came out of a 20+ point deficit to snub Miami from the conference title run.

And when we switch over to Sheduer, yes, the Buffs had 9 wins, and no title run, but what this guy do this season, did anyone else do that? Compare 2023 Shedeur with the 2024 version and you will see how much this QB has improved in every single way.

That Golden Arm award win just adds the cherry on top of that already beautiful cake. Maybe that’s why Deion Sanders Jr. was quite frustrated regarding Shedeur getting snubbed from the race. “Shedeur, the first college football player to be blackballed,” Bucky had mentioned in a post on X.

Regardless, at least one of Deion’s star players got the award, right? And that is all that matters. Buffs fans will sit back and cherish this moment for years to come.
