9 starters out, yet the Bluebloods have been dominating Bama. Are we even surprised? 1st half, Sherrone Moore and Co. managed to push the Tide down to -2 rushing yards. At this point, it’s getting funny. “Alabama should be in the playoff”. Yeah right, only to get thrashed by a Michigan team that doesn’t even have a proper QB depth? No Colston Loveland, no Kalel Mullings, and no Will Johnson. Yet the Bluebloods are up by 6 points, and Tide and Kalen DeBoer are struggling. But then, something unexpected happened. See, Michigan has no QB depth. They got Alex Orji and Davis Warren. But there is a problem.

On a 3rd down conversion, Warren ran out of the pocket, getting chased by Bama’s James Smith. One sack in, and he is lying on the turf holding his abdomen. This could point towards an abdomen injury, but the worst part about this incident is that Warren is out of the game. “I think he’s gonna be done. They switched the helmets out,” Jason Avant from the Michigan radio pointed out. This guy was the crutch holding a desperate Michigan offense together, and this situation makes things tricky for Sherrone Moore.

This is proving grounds for Michigan. Sherrone Moore has already lost the most important guys on his squad to the draft and portal. With Warren out? UM has basically zero quarterback depth. They have either put Orji in, who has gone for ONLY 148 yards in over 10 games.

Or you come down to the grassroots level and rely on Jaydn Davis, who has seen zero playtime all season. While it is true that Michigan’s defense has done a noteworthy job of holding back Jalen Milroe and the Bama offense, without any proper passer, the Wolverines are gonna find themselves in a lot of trouble.

We have to wait and see how this pans out for Sherrone Moore. However, another aspect of this accident is the fact that Warren is going to have a hard time in the drafts. See, in the 8 games he has started in, his presence and completion have been all over the place. Covered over 1000 yards, but the turnover problems with massive interceptions do not point toward the best NFL future. And this injury? It makes things worse.

Is Davis Warren stuck in limbo?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Alabama's playoff hype just smoke and mirrors when they struggle against a weakened Michigan team?

Have an interesting take?

And this is why most players opt out of the Bowl game. One injury, and you are done for. Still, there is some hope. “Sherrone Moore said Davis Warren was “leaning” toward returning for a fifth year.” Aaron McMann dropped this news last day and honestly? This is the best possible outcome for Warren.

With the injury in, the chances of him being even relevant in the NFL draft are out of the question. Come back for another year and help Bryce Underwood learn the ropes. Moore has mentioned that he would “want” Warren back, but we are yet to hear some final confirmation on it.

For now, let’s just hope UM has a way of pulling out of this showdown with a W.
