Home/College Football

Dylan Raiola and the Nebraska squad have created a buzz over rumors, speculations, and stuff like that after their 6-6 season. Some college football fans say that Raiola would hit the portal, while others suggest he would stay here. Head coach Matt Rhule even changed the offensive coordinator and brought in Dana Holgerson to keep their QB happy. Meanwhile, how does a new WR sound? Yeah, you’re right, it will strengthen Nebraska’s offense for the future seasons, and Rhule is currently busy eyeing the portal. Any news yet? Well, it looks like.

Recently,

on Wilson Dittman Sports, the host talked about the huge Nebraska transfer weekend and highlighted potential wide receiver Eric Rivers, who is inclined towards the Cornhuskers. “This guy just knows how to make money, knows how to get open, good hands, good speed, good run-after-catch ability. He has some physicality to him. So yes, he can block.”

Eric Rivers isn’t just any wide receiver. At 5’11” and 175 pounds, the Florida International transfer had an amazing junior season with 62 receptions, 1,200 yards, 12 touchdowns, and an average of 19 yards per catch. His ability to stretch the field with speed and great hands, combined with his physicality and blocking skills, makes him a complete package. He doesn’t just catch the ba*l—he creates opportunities after the catch and contributes to the team’s overall offensive strength. With his stats, Rivers is not just a game-changer but someone who could elevate Nebraska’s offense in no time.

Nebraska has really been aggressive, going after him and going after other wide receivers as well. They’ve really made him a point of emphasis specifically. But no, they’ve been after about four or five wide receivers. It’s pretty clear to me that Dana Holgerson isn’t too happy with the wide receivers who are currently with Nebraska, you know, Minus David and Corey Varney,” Dittman said.

Nebraska’s WR room has struggled outside of David and Corey Varney, and the newly hired offensive coordinator Dana Holgerson seems intent on reshaping the squad. Rivers is the top target in their hunt for wide receiver talent, part of a broader strategy involving several other portal players. Nebraska has already shown they’re serious about upgrades, as they recently got a commitment from an elite defensive lineman, Williams Nwaneri, and now they’re turning their attention to the offense. Rivers’ skillset makes him the perfect candidate to kickstart that overhaul. However, there are others also in this race.

The recruitment race to land Eric Rivers’ commitment

What’s your perspective on:

Can Eric Rivers be the game-changer Nebraska needs to dominate college football again?

Have an interesting take?

It must be said that landing Rivers won’t be cake walk for the Cornhuskers. Naturally, with such a talent, there are going to be other programs lining up to get his signature. As per Dittman, “It should be mentioned; he will be here on Sunday through Monday. He’s just coming off a visit from Miami. He’s also going to take a visit to Penn State and Colorado. Those are the other schools you should watch out for. Nebraska is in the thick of things for Eric Rivers, though. Really like where we stand with this wide receiver.”

Rivers’ recruitment has turned into fierce competition. With teams like Nebraska, Miami, Penn State, and Colorado in the running, it’s clear that several top programs recognize his potential. As the 29th-ranked player in the transfer portal and 10th among wide receivers, Rivers has all those skills to be a starter from day one.

His visit to Nebraska this weekend is a critical opportunity for the Huskers to solidify their position in this rat race. If they can prove that their program can maximize his talent and prepare him for the NFL, they might just land their next offensive superstar.
