Can Dylan Raiola and Dana Holgorsen turn Nebraska's season around, or is it too late?

Dylan Raiola is the guy who walks that extra mile to get what he wants. You know what? Our boy just dialled Heisman candidate Dillon Gabriel after the Ducks pulled out a 16-13 against Wisconsin last weekend. The reason? He sketched down a roadmap to beat in Nebraska’s upcoming battle. After discussing it with Gabriel, he concluded, “They play really physical, sound, and together,” Raiola said of Wisconsin. “When you have those three things, you have a good defense. we are going to be expecting everything and anything.”

Although it’s a great move by Raiola, you might be wondering why this guy is taking it all on his shoulders. Well, after facing a 20-28 loss to USC, Nebraska’s offensive mistakes got unwrapped in front of the whole world. After analyzing the kind of mess that happened during that game, the officials created a way for the new offensive coordinator, Dana Holgorsen. And the new chapter begins. Now college football analysts are also seeing a ray of hope for Raiola in Holgorsen’s company.

On the November 21st episode of Locked On Nebraska, college football analysts Mitch Sherman and Connor Happer revealed how this new pair can still salvage Nebraska’s rest of the season. They started by pointing out Marcus Satterfield’s blunders, which cost Nebraska and Raiola many flops throughout this season. A viewer called the show and asked the Sherman-Happer duo about how fast can the new OC detox Dylan’s mind from the poor play-calling that he experienced under Satterfield.

As per Happer, “Marcus Satterfield is certainly capable of Dylan Raiola’s regression throughout his freshman season. For sure. Don’t know that it’s exclusively on his shoulders, but certainly played a part.” However, have things looked better with Holgorsen? Well, there are signs of progress.

“I’ve said this all week, and I don’t know. I think they took a step last week against USC. I thought getting him some easier throws, some quicker reads, and quicker looks like he still turns down stuff that he doesn’t need to turn down. He still doesn’t see stuff that he probably would have been seeing at the beginning of the year. But I do think there was some rehabilitation, I guess, in the USC game,” Happer said.

Though the analysts didn’t directly say it was all their ex-OC’s fault, he did play a part in Nebraska’s current 5-5 record. Now, they need at least two of the one games to win and secure bowl game eligibility. As Happer suggested, it’s not going to be a cakewalk for either Wisconsin to crush Raiola’s team as they’re also holding the same 5-5. So much is at stake for both of these teams, but with Dylan Raiola and Holgorsen at the helm, their offense can finally reach its actual potential. You know what? It’s not a superficial theory college football analysts are throwing at us; even Raiola and Holgorsen believe the same for each other.

Dylan Raiola and Dana Holgorsen on each other

Tuesday marked the first official appearance of Dylan Raiola and offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, where they discussed the bond they are creating, which will ultimately benefit their team. entering the second game with Raiola, Holgersen shared his vision by saying, “He’s a very, very bright young man. how is this kid a freshman? How can he process all this information as a freshman? he knows the offense; he knows how to communicate it to the players.”

Yeah, he’s not the first one to say that. Since the season started, he’s been across the headlines for all the good reasons. And with Holgerson by his side, Dylan Raiola is also bursting with confidence to win the next game against Wisconsin. “I think we’re excited,” he said while talking with the media about their upcoming game to welcome Wisconsin to Memorial Stadium.
