Well, it seems like Lincoln Riley is keeping an eye on Oregon’s talent pool, aiming to pick the best ones. Look, the Trojans are already shooting high at No. 1 for the 2026 class in the Big 10. But despite that, Riley isn’t backing out from making big moves. Imagine you have an entire 2025 season yet to finish, and you already have 18 commits locked in. And now his next move? Snatching Dan Lanning‘s 310-pound freaky offensive tackle in front of his eyes. Can Riley and USC do that? Looks like it’s not that easy. As their 4-star commit is hard to lurk.

Now, this isn’t the first time Lincoln Riley and the team are trying to take away blue-chip talent from Oregon. They are already eyeing another Ducks decommitted player, defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui, who might just go for them. A few weeks back, four-star quarterback Jonas Williams flipped his commitment from Oregon to USC. The worst part is they are not giving it a rest and going for Mater Dei’s 6’6 offensive tackle Kodi Greene. But he is not the one making rash decisions; as talking to On3’s Chad Simmons, he says, “It will be hard to flip me.”

That’s a straight-up ultimatum toward Lincoln Riley. Look, since last year, Kodi Greene has stayed strong with Dan Lanning’s program. And even his family shares a good bond with their offensive line coach, A’lique Terry, and the kind of belief they show toward Kodi makes it hard for him to change his mind. As Kodi reveals, “They still recruit me hard; they make me feel like a top priority, and Oregon has an advantage with relationships. We go back almost two years, so that is big with my commitment. The relationship me and family have with Coach Terry, knowing what he’s done for the offensive line.”

Coach Terry’s presence does make a difference. He is a key contributor to Duck’s run to the Pac-12 Conference championship, a Rose Bowl win, and a 12-2 season. Plus, their offensive line was one of the four finalists for the Joe Moore Award for their outstanding offensive unit. So, that makes him go back to them even more. “And how he makes me feel at home around him are big factors. I love being around him, and I can’t wait to see how he coaches and teaches this weekend.” Kodi said.

But then, Kodi Greene is keeping his options wide open. As Lincoln Riley successfully brought Kodi Greene to USC for an unofficial visit on March 29, it seems to have gone exceptionally well. This development has certainly caused some unease among the community in Eugene. Greene’s visit likely provided a significant boost to the Trojans and that’s not something Dan Lanning would like.

To make matters more concerning, Greene is making official visits to the programs. “I was at USC this past weekend, then after I go to Oregon, I will be at Texas (Apr. 11) and then Washington (April 18),” Greene told On3. “Those are the main four schools I am talking to, and I have official visits with Oregon (June 6), Texas (June 13), and USC (June 20) scheduled. I could add one to Washington. It depends on how I feel after the unofficial visit.” So, does that mean USC or Texas might take away Dan Lanning’s high-rated prospect??

Should Dan Lanning fear USC and Texas?

It comes as no surprise that various programs are eager to recruit a talented player like Kodi Greene. And why wouldn’t they? The On3 Industry Ranking ranks him 24th overall and 4th among offensive tackles in the 2026 cycle, making him one of the most sought-after recruits. Plus, let’s not forget that Kodi also holds the 5th position in California in the On3 ranking, placing him at 9th overall and 3rd in his position. Therefore, it is understandable that USC, Texas, and even Washington are aggressively pursuing him.

But for now, Kodi Greene just wants to make sure that Dan Lanning’s program is his only destination, as he says, “With these visits, I want to make sure Oregon is the best place for me. I don’t want to enter the transfer portal when I get to college, so I make sure it is the place for me.” So, the only team that’s threatening Dan Lanning is the USC Trojans, as Lincoln Riley’s close ties with Kodi Green might flip the script for the Ducks. As Kodi said, “Me and (Lincoln) Riley pretty much speak on a daily basis.”

And the worst part is Lincoln Riley’s top 2026 is what is making him shine even brighter in Greene’s eyes. As Kodi reveals, “He just checks in, checks in with me. Sees how I’m doing, sees how my family’s doing, which I really appreciate.” Greene is also well aware of USC’s recruiting success, noting, “They’re super hot right now… me and my teammates talk about how good their recruiting class is… Being part of that would be legendary.”
