The recruiting battle outside the field is taking a surge during the final stretch of a chaotic college football season. Oregon commit five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson seems to be the new honeybee among the big leagues. Tampa, Florida, native has been pretty vocal about his strong commitment to Dan Lannings and the team, but he didn’t sleep on his options as well. Back in September, rumors swirled over his Miami Hurricanes leaning, and, of course, for a reason. The kid was spotted flaunting the Hurricanes cleats and gloves during his high school football game on Friday, Sept. 6. If you know Mario Cristobal and his aggressive approach to hiring, it wouldn’t be hard for you to imagine the push that was brewing under the cover. To Lanning and all the Ducks’ dismay, it was not just Miami that was rolling its sleeve up to flip Wilson from Florida.
Billy Nappier and the Gators have been eying the young WR for a long. Florida had scheduled an official visit with Wilson back in the Summer, but a last-minute trip to Miami wrecked it up. But no worries folks! The Gators are again in a spot to control their destiny as the lad will return to the Swamp this weekend to witness an electrifying Ole Miss game. Cristobal might be at his wits’ end, but it is what it is. Explaining the Kanes’ struggle, ON3 recruit Josh Newberg said, ‘‘He’ll be back in Gainesville this upcoming weekend for an OV. So, I do think, you know, things got a little bit more difficult for the Canes [Miami]. That uphill climb, you know, was a little bit harder for those guys.”

It’s Billy Napier’s time to break a sweat and come out with the best to have quite an impression in front of their key target. However, the high-scale visit doesn’t necessarily imply that Wilson turned his back on Miami. ”I’m not counting out, you know, Mario Cristobal and the staff by any means in that recruitment. I think they’re going to fight to the 12th hour for Dallas Wilson, a guy that they very, very, very much value in that 2025 class. I think he can be a guy who can make a huge impact…so right now I do think, you know, momentum-swinging a little bit towards the gators,” Newberg added more closure regarding the plausible tricky path of the Miami coach.
The Gators already made Wilson blown away by their latest LSU feat last week. The prized five-star recruit was in the audience seat when the Gators paced up a little against the Tigers with a 7-o lead. Wilson couldn’t get enough of DJ Lagway’s stupendous performance that kept the Gators in the driving seat of the game and helped walking out with a 27-16 upset win.
There is a common proximity factor in both Cristobal and Napier that will give them an edge not over each other, but rather over the common competitor, Ducks. But Lanning, the quintessential recruitment king, has his fair share to bank on the Florida guy.

Dallas Wilson keeps his Oregon commitment dirt-free
Dallas Wilson, the self-assertive wide receiver, has been giving a lot of mixed signals on his recruitment graph over the last few months. The 6 ft 3 has all the right to choose what is best for him. But there has been a lot of confusion brewing around regarding where he potentially lands at the end of January’s signing day.
The prodigy had already made a satisfying visit to the Gators’ camp this season, where he watched the Underdog Florida stand out in their fullest glory. Also, when asked about his fitting the Gators’ bubble, Wilson noted that Napier compared him to Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, and other notable receivers. However, he didn’t spill anything on whether he will join the force or not. If the Gators can pull off another win against the Rebels this week, it will serve as a brownie point.

Despite all this, Wilson, the current Oregon commit, kept on giving assurance to Lanning and his team. ‘‘Nothing has changed with Oregon. They are still the school to hold it down with me and be there for me. Florida has my interest though, because I love how they have faith in their guys,” Wilson noted. He grew up dreaming about wearing the Ducks gear as it is his childhood dream school. But who will have the final sway over the kid’s mind? Let us know your takes.
