The Oregon Ducks are on a roll. Week in and week out, Dan Lanning relentlessly keeps doing justice to their No. 1 rank in the CFP ranking. A gusty 16-13 last-minute win over the Wisconsin Badgers left the entire team and their fans alike on cloud nine. Although it was a recurring reality of Lanning and crew ruling over the opponent each week, every single win left a good taste in the mouth. But what particularly added an amusing layer to the latest victory of the Ducks was the quintessential ‘jump around‘ gesture.
With 15 minutes left in the clock in a nail-biting fourth quarter, the insane crowd of the Camp Randall Stadium in Madison did what they do best. They collectively started to dance to the ‘House of Pain’ masterpiece in a nonchalant attempt to weaken the Ducks’ pecker. But little did they know coach Lanning is a brain box who can see it coming even from afar and can flip it in his favor in seconds. The tricky tradition that worked the best against all other teams around brutally failed against the Ducks, as they had already done their homework for a predictable hitch.
The Ducks have already become accustomed to abiding by the famous Pavlov’s dog psychology, and the game against the Badgers is just another quality application. The awe-inspiring video of Lanning deciding the winners’ mindset immediately made headlines, with people calling him the ‘best motivator’.

In a viral 13-minute video titled, When You Hear the Song, coach Lanning was spotted delivering a fiery pep-talk to his boys on how to deal with the typical Wisconsin home game ritual between the third and fourth quarter. He told the team to let the energy flow into their veins without thinking about whom it is meant to. ”It’s going to release dopamine in your mind, and it’s going to tell you that you’re hungry to go eat. Whenever we hear this, I want our temperature to change,” the innate leader inside Lanning shined bright.
Lanning didn’t just let the lesson remain a theory. He literally “Jumped Around” at every practice throughout the week and weathered the players into believing the song was truly meant to give them the final push. But as you look at the other side of the coin, naysayers give the veteran coach a piece of their minds all over X for echoing ex-Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh and buying the trailblazer’s credit.
Netizens bashed Dan Lanning for being Jim Harbaugh’s copycat

Jim Harbaugh set a benchmark for the Wolverines that very few can ever match. The legend jumped ship to the NFL earlier this year, wrapping up an illustrious tenure with Michigan. He led the Wolverines to the frontline with a soaring 86-25 record, the first-ever national championship since 1997, before leaving the legacy behind. The $80 million NFL deal cracker is not with the Wolverines anymore, but his practices are still making the talks around the CFB world.
The NFL vet countered the infamous Wisconsin tactic with the same resilient mindset three years back, and it seems fans still couldn’t move on from the memory. They brutally threw shades on the Ducks coach, reminding him, ‘Harbaugh did it first.’ Another fan aesthetically put Lanning in his place with the comment, ”Yeah, brilliant. Copied Harbaugh and Michigan,”
Harbaugh is indeed the OG in breaking the stigma here, and no one ever denies that. But Lanning, at least, doesn’t deserve the trolling spree he is currently undergoing for simply doing something as good as a former Michigan coach. He deserves his due credit for mounting a bombastic season. He exceeded all expectations even when people doubted the Ducks’ for their first season without Bo Nix. The man is a game-changer. But if you know the unprecedented fans’ sentiment, you can probably relate to the fans screaming over Harbaugh’s copyright over a small gesture. They are as brutally sarcastic as ”Soooo he saw Michigan do it and said hmmm seems like a good idea,”

Some of the fans called out the whole authenticity of the Oregon team and didn’t hesitate to throw it like, ‘Nothing is original from Oregon’. Last but not least, one fan ripped out Lanning’s motivator tag, saying, ”Best Motivator? BIG teams have been doing this for years. LOL.”
All the backlash is understandable, but go slow, folks! Dan Lanning is the convincing hero of the season so far! Can you deny it?
