Indiana received a disgraceful ranking when the initial CFP rankings were released. However, they continued to handle their business with remarkable regularity each week. And now, under coach Curt Cignetti’s outstanding leadership, they likewise had an incredible 9-0 start to the season. It makes sense to flaunt such a performance, and the coach did the same by saying, “I win, Google me.” However, this time, he’s taken his antics to a whole new level!
On November 8, CBS Sports shared a video clip of Coach Cignetti on their Instagram, with the caption, “Coach Cignetti breaks down why he came in HOT to start his Indiana tenure 🗣️” And the video showed the HC’s crazy behavior as he screams, “Purdue Sucks! And so does Michigan and Ohio State! ” The coach appears to have a great deal of faith in his players. If you don’t know, though, the coach made this statement when he first took over as head coach of Indiana in July. Cignetti used those fiery words to the Indiana crowd to highlight the intense competition within the conference.

But with tough games against Michigan, Ohio State, and Purdue coming up, that old quote is starting to feel a little too real. They are undefeated thus far this season, and they would be 12-0 if they defeated these three teams. This is a fantastic start for a first-year head coach at Indiana. People are still talking about his “Google Me,” and at the time, it seemed a bit crazy, but now it’s starting to make sense. However, this statement had a very straightforward explanation. See it through the eyes of the head coach.

The story behind Curt Cignetti’s viral remark
The Hoosiers had their first 8-0 start since 1967 and their first 9-0 start in school history under Cignetti’s leadership in his first season. In a recent video on CBS Sports, the talented head coach explained his start with Indiana and stated, “First day on the job, you know, I wasn’t here 15 minutes, and I could sense the doom and gloom and the hopelessness, and then went up and spoke with Big Ten channel at noon up in Indy.“
However, as he was repeatedly asked about his plan for the team, he added, “And my press conference at the very end, you know, I was asked the same question for about the 15th time and you know, I put my head down and decided to keep it simple, you know, instead of giving a 10-minute answer. I said, I went Google me. I mean, I Google players when we recruit them, you know, to find out about them.” The coach seemed to be trying to get the team’s supporters enthused.
