Does Julian Lewis's empathy set a new standard for sportsmanship in college football?

Julian Lewis, who is among the list of the leading college football quarterback recruits in America, recently came to the limelight when he showed his support towards fellow quarterback Ryan Montgomery, who recently got a terrible ACL injury. Due to this injury, Montgomery will miss the whole season, and this is a big setback for the Georgia Bulldogs who had high expectations on their new find. Lewis posted on Instagram and said, “Man Fam😢” with a photo of the news concerning Montgomery’s injury.

This short but meaningful message shows that no matter how badly these young athletes strive for the position in the spotlight, they support one another. Lewis is rated as the best 2025 prospect and is giving stunning performances on the field in every facet. His stats speak for themselves: he passed over 4,000 yards and had over 40 TDs.

He remains cool and calm under pressure and has honed his skills to his team’s triumph. Even having all this attention and competitive pressure, Lewis has surely displayed a mature and caring side. Ryan Montgomery, who was expected to be a major player for Georgia Bulldogs in his college football program, has had an incredible football career at the high school level. In his junior year alone, he was able to throw over 3,500 yards, and 35 touchdowns.

His accuracy to throw, his arm strength, and his football intelligence were a perfect match for the kind of offense that Georgia was counting on. The Bulldogs expected him to bring leadership to the team in the coming years, but his injury is a major blow. The loss of Montgomery is not only a disadvantage to him but it also poses a major one to Georgia as they have to start strategizing on how further from this point.

Ryan Montgomery is a 4-star quarterback prospect from the state of Georgia. He belongs to the 77th position in the overall rating of contenders for 2025 based on the 247Sports composite chart. He was on pace to gross out at a higher rating than any other QB signee for the Bulldogs since Brock Vandagriff in 2021.

But then Montgomery’s season opener went south in a challenging game against Toledo Central Catholic, a back-to-back state champion team. In the second play, Montgomery took the ball 1-yard before getting sacked and tossed around, before being pulled out of the game with an injury. He briefly came back to the playing ground before being taken out of the game.

Montgomery’s father, Mike Montgomery, said that although it is far from perfect, his son is keen to go through rehab. His coach Stefan Adams avoided making comments on the injury, but, of course, wished the player a quick recovery. Central Catholic meanwhile won the game, there is no stopping the team which has not lost for the past 32 games. Ryan Montgomery looks forward to his recovery and will come back in better form than ever while Georgia and other teams may consider altering their ways of recruiting players.
