Looks like USC Trojans are too alluring for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. Already, Lincoln Riley’s QB commit Julian Lewis has been a true-Buffs favorite. Well, now Deion thought of doubling the flipping game. This time Trojans’ offensive tackle has won the Buffs’ hearts who are now on a mission to reel in the duo. On the podcast, the analyst drops in with a quick update on plan B if Colorado’s JuJu mission goes awry. However, it seems to not align with how Deion has come so far in his coaching journey.
Don’t you think that Deion is laying his hand on too many things at the same time? While their Lewis dream is still far from coming true, the Buffs HC seems to have found his next favorite. Looks like, CU successfully flipping 4-star Penn State defensive back Antonio Branch Jr. last month is adding up to the motivation. So much so, that Deion is looking to flip the USC’s commit, 4-star OT Carde Smith. And guess what? Things already seem to look good for the Buffs. As analyst Steve Wiltfong dropped in with updates on Smith’s take on his Buffs commitment, “He [Smith] really talked about the brotherhood and family feel of the program.”

Wooed by the warm welcome in Boulder, on September 22, “Smitty” Smith posted a snap of himself surrounded by Deion and coach Phil Loadholt. In that case, no matter how much Riley tries to block the gates, CU has the keys to the secret door. Now let’s shift our focus to Buffs’ favorite JuJu.
Why Colorado is the best spot for Lewis? “The opportunity to be the day one starter of all of his finalists is probably best at Colorado,” pointed out Wiltfong. Plus, when it comes to NIL, Deion’s army is a big bonus. Well, Shedeur is leading the charts and will soon be vacating the position. In that case, “Colorado’s got a lot of things they can point to in the recruit recruitment of Julian Lewis.” And true that Julian Lewis is returning to Deion’s team for the fourth time, bringing more positive energy and potentially raising Riley’s anxiety. However, according to the analyst, Deion is turning a blind eye to something that is their need of the hour while running after Lewis.

Deion Sanders got snubbed by 5-star QB commit
What’s your perspective on:
Is Deion Sanders' strategy of flipping USC recruits a bold move or a desperate gamble?
Have an interesting take?
Wiltfong dropped in with a warning for Deion and co., “A high school quarterback this cycle very important to them after not signing one in 2025.” Looks like the Buffs HC is no longer stoic about going door-to-door visiting colleges to reel in fresh talent. And guess who made that possible? Talented Duncanville quarterback Keelon Russell. The 5-star prospect has been quite a phenom and has been ranked as the No.3 QB in the Class of 2025.
Well, here too, the fight is quite hard. Since already the recruitment guru, Kalen DeBoer has got his commitment. But that didn’t stop Deion’s army from pursuing him as they made the most use of their bye-week. Interestingly, unlike Julian Lewis, who is busy playing mind games, the projected $985,000 star QB seems to be quite sure about his next move.

When asked about a potential Colorado flip, Russell cleared the air with a one-word reply, “Nah.” Maybe, Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are yet to reach the reputation that comes with Nick Saban’s years of hard work in Bama and the legacy being carried by DeBoer. Now, will the Mission Flip turn to Mission Flop if Lewis and Smith too walk on Russell’s path? Let your opinion pour in!
