The thought of Shedeur Sanders playing for the Dallas Cowboys is sure an intriguing one. Imagine following in your dad’s footsteps, playing for the same team that he once led to a Super Bowl victory. It sounds like a dream scenario for both Shedeur and the Cowboys. And we’re sure even Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones would love the idea of bringing in the next generation of Sanders to secure some wins.
Now, there’s even talk that Shilo Sanders or Travis Hunter could join Shedeur in Dallas. While it’s still early to make predictions, some people are already speculating a snub for Hunter.
On the August 14th episode of the ‘Zero 2 Sixty’ podcast, Buffaloes alum Matt McChesney and co-host Bailey Price discussed where Shedeur might land. McChesney confidently said, “I definitely see Shedeur going to Dallas…110%.” Bailey agreed, adding, “I can see Jerry Jones throwing in all the cards to get him and Travis.”

However, Bailey noted that Hunter might be drafted earlier than Shedeur. But McChesney quickly disagreed, saying, “Shedeur is a quarterback, homie. They had six of the top 12, what are you talking about?” Now, Hunter’s potential draft spot is amidst mixed opinions—whether he’ll be drafted as a wide receiver or cornerback is still up in the air. Meanwhile, teams like the Cowboys and Washington Commanders are also coming into play.
With all those question marks swirling, McChesney makes another bold prediction. “I think it’s more apt that Shedeur goes one and then Shilo goes in like the fifth round to Dallas. And both of them go to the Cowboys,” he says.

While Shilo’s draft status too, remains uncertain, the idea of Shedeur joining the Cowboys seems to be gaining more traction.

The Cowboys might be eyeing Shedeur not just because of his ‘Sanders’ last name, but because of the talent he has got. Despite the Buffaloes‘ rough 4-8 season and a massive 52 sacks, Shedeur still put up impressive numbers—31 touchdowns and 3,230 passing yards. Well, who would miss this hot prospect?

Even Arrowhead Live, a Chiefs fan page, thinks the Cowboys are eager to draft him. They posted on X, “Cowboys will move mountains to draft Shedeur Sanders. Jerry is a businessman first and foremost.” Now, rumors have that, Jones might be delaying his QB Dak Prescott’s massive $60 million worth contract, just because he’s eyeing Shedeur Sanders. It’s believed Shedeur could be a pricier pick and if Dallas wants to bring him, they might need to clear some cap space.
And what does Coach Prime think about all this speculation? He’s all for it. Earlier this year, he praised Shedeur and Travis Hunter as potential top 5 picks next year and said he’d be happy to see his QB son play for any of his former teams. Well, let’s see how the reality turns out!
