Colorado’s hot streak continues! Their star quarterback Shedeur Sanders played a major role in helping them pull off another upset, defeating Baylor 38-31 in overtime, following a 28-9 victory over Colorado State.
The Buffs took on a rising Baylor team this weekend, fresh off a 31-3 win over Air Force. Both teams came into the game with a 2-1 record, hoping to leave at 3-1. But Baylor head coach Dave Aranda left disappointed.
After the game, Aranda spoke to the media about the Buffs and their coach, Deion Sanders. He had a lot of praise for Colorado’s offense, saying, “A lot of respect for what they do offensively. The quarterback makes some really hard throws. If he (Shedeur Sanders) knows what you are in, he eats you up.”

Colorado came out on top after a nail-biting finish. Shedeur Sanders delivered a clutch Hail Mary that sealed the Buffs’ victory, leaving Baylor heartbroken. Even though Baylor took a 31-24 lead with 5:43 left thanks to Robertson’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Hal Presley, the Buffs weren’t done yet.
With just two seconds left, Shedeur rolled to his left and found LaJohntay Wester in the end zone for a sliding catch, tying the game 31-31. Then, in overtime, Colorado made another huge play to secure the win.

This thrilling moment took fans back 30 years to when Kordell Stewart threw a 64-yard Hail Mary to Michael Westbrook at Michigan Stadium. Ex-QB Robert Griffin III also praised Shedeur’s performance, saying he “FINDS THE WIFI CONNECTION AND AIR DROPS A DIME FOR A TOUCHDOWN ON A HAIL MARY.” But for Aranda, the game’s final moments were tough to swallow.
The reason behind Dave Aranda’s despondency
Buffs fans were excited after seeing standout performances from Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, making it tough for Baylor to keep up. Bears RB Dominic Richardson was hit by Colorado’s Travis Hunter, causing a fumble just as Richardson tried to cross the goal line.
Meanwhile, Colorado had also tied the game with a field goal at 10-10, but WR Jamall Bell’s 100-yard kickoff return quickly put Baylor back in the lead. Robertson also scored on a 45-yard touchdown run, but despite these efforts, Baylor couldn’t secure the win. Well, now we can understand why Baylor’s head coach Dave Aranda was disappointed.

On the flip side, Colorado’s coach Deion Sanders wasn’t thrilled with how things ended either. He apologized to reporters for the premature field storm, saying it prevented him from shaking Aranda’s hand. “That’s not professional; I wanted to shake his hand and acknowledge him,” Sanders said.
In the end, both head coaches had their frustrations after the game. While waiting for Deion Sanders’ next big game, check out our latest ES Think Tank interview with Doug Sanders!
