If we keep aside two games against Florida and Notre Dame, Mario Cristobal looks like the luckiest one to step into 2025 after a failed playoff attempt in the past season. Also, they swooped in Carson Beck, the former Georgia quarterback who headlined the Dwags nation in the past. No doubt, he has not had a very perfect season as constant interceptions and injuries derailed his true mojo and left him in the shadow of a heavy backlash at Athens, but Beck is someone who oozes out pure class under the center no matter what. Mario Cristobal sees right through the controversy and believes Beck can bring back the ‘U’ of the UM after years.
Of course, the Canes have a proper offensive line ready to back Carson up in his high-flying pursuit. Receivers like Joshua Moore, Malachi Toney, and Daylyn Upshaw added critical depth to the O-line. But is everything looking good in the coaching room?
Miami’s coaching front is blowing up. Having a good depth chart will mean nothing if you lack proper guidance that elevates and motivates the players to chisel their best out of the shell. So, losing out on the coaches is going to weigh heavy on the program, especially when they also have a strong hand in recruitment. Offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, and defensive line coach Jason Taylor all finished in the top 10 in the ACC during the 2025 recruiting cycle. The status of one among them is swinging in its own right. Kevin Beard, 44, has produced a series of elite wide receivers in his career. It’s a no-brainer that the outside teams will be vying for him. But now, the delusional fear is turning into a doomed reality.

Breaking an insightful intel, the managing director of the
State of U, Cam Underwood, said, ”It’s an interesting kind of thing you know back in my teacher days, you know, I used to not at the same school but taught with someone who is related to Kevin Beard in the same kind of circles and everything and then that person reached out to me because they’re not like a really big sports fan, they’re like, are you’ll trying to get rid of my cousin and I’m like hey whoa! hey like!” Rumors are swirling that the standout WR coach is leaving Miami as Syracuse Orange is actively pursuing him for a while.
But it’s not just the college periphery. It seems the stupendous Miami head coach is luring the NFL teams as well. ”I mean it’s one of those things that’s being talked about and like you know on here we’ve even said you know potentially looking at the NFL, and you know, we’ll see, so it’s unclear whether Kevin beard will you know, continue on staff moving forward, I’m hopeful that he does,” Underwood added more reasons to feel a blue for the Canes.

Beard’s contract is about to expire in March and Miami is yet to sign an extension. Seems fishy? Well, maybe, but Cristobal is always on the hunt for the next big thing in the bowl.
Can Will Haris be the next power recruiter in Miami?
You can argue that losing Beard will pose a threat on the recruitment front, as he was not just a position coach but a recruitment powerhouse on the offense. There is no wrong in that fugitive assumption, but Will Haris looks to balance that out on the defense.

While offense shows some downfall, the latest Canes hire, the new Safeties coach Will Haris, who left Florida for Miami, is a giant recruiter as well. Harris came to Gainesville in December 2023 as the Gators’ defensive backs coach after serving the previous year in the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers as their assistant secondary coach. He has played an instrumental role in rebuilding the Gators’ pass defense and putting the program back into the mix for the top DB talents.
There is no wonder that he will do the same for Miami. Cristobal didn’t just flip a coach, he unleashed a big recruiting momentum on the defense. Insiders have already smelled danger in Florida’s 2026 safety target, Aiden Pouncey, as he’s seemingly clinging to the Canes.
