Garrett Nussmeier is getting cooked. This dude handed Bama the W served on a silver platter. Garrett Nussmeier barely landed 27 out of 42 passes and also hit two massive interceptions which Bama easily used to turnover into points on the scoreboard. Brian Kelly was fuming on that turf, watching Nussmeier throw everything away. A few days back, we had covered how Nussmeier had turned to god to save his NFL dream. See, Kelly has put Nussmeier in quite the pickle. The LSU offense lacks enough rushers who can connect with the QB and this results in Nussmeier not having enough opportunities to make plays.

However, that ain’t the only major flaw in his play. Back in AYS Sports, Blake Ruffino pointed out that Nussmeier has a major crisis when it comes to turnovers. “Nussmeier has played in 27 games at LSU. He started nine of them. So that means in 18 games, he either came in on mop-up duty, or he had to come in the second half because somebody got hurt, right? So he’s played in, a lot of games. In the 27 games that he’s played…he’s turned the ball over 20 times,” Ruffino mentioned. Even if we check his TD-to-interception ratio, this guy has landed 21 touchdowns with 11 interceptions.

Man, Kelly has to figure something out. And honestly, you cannot put all the blame on Nussmeier as well. As we pointed out before, the Tigers don’t have access to that many talents for the rushing plays. This causes a lack of balance, which even Kelly has agreed with.

“I don’t think we give him enough balance within the offense. It makes him vulnerable because he has to do so much,” Brian Kelly had mentioned. Replacing Jayden Daniels has become a burden for this dude and it is directly affecting his future at this point.

However, Kelly and Nussmeier might have a shot at redeeming themselves. See, LSU goes up against the Gators today. We all know that Billy Napier and his boys ain’t having a good time. So, Kelly can win this. Right?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Garrett Nussmeier the scapegoat for LSU's offensive woes, or is he part of the problem?

Have an interesting take?

LSU vs. Gators

Napier has nothing. He lost Graham Mertz to ACL early on and when DJ Lagway finally got to see some playtime and took the Gators to a massive 40+ point win against the Wildcats, he was soon sidelined because of a hamstring injury against Georgia.

So, it does open up some opportunities for LSU to grab a win. However, here is the thing. Lagway is probably coming back. As per the latest injury report, Lagway is all set to make a massive return against LSU and this will mean trouble for Kelly.

This is the same dude who managed to make Georgia trail behind the Gators. And even if we consider the injury and say that Lagway won’t be playing with his full potential, you still gotta keep in mind that this guy is leagues better than Nussmeier. If LSU loses this one? They are done.
