Dylan Raiola seems to be donning his ‘doppelganger’ hat with pride. From his curly broccoli hairstyle to his small patchy beard, he’s been imitating NFL’s fav Patrick Mahomes’ style from head to toe. Well, even down to his wardrobe at times. Sounds like a crazy fanboy, right? But more than that, the CFB world sees him as a mini Mahomes-like quarterback.

On September 7th, Raiola’s Cornhuskers are set to face off against Shedeur Sanders’ Buffs in a heated rivalry match. Last year, Shedeur and his team crushed the Cornhuskers 36-14, but this time, it might not be so easy. The Huskers now have their own “Mahomes” in town, and even the game announcers are buzzing about this rookie QB.

The game is being covered by announcers Colt McCoy and NBC’s Paul Burmeister. Well, before the game even starts, they’ve already compared Dylan Raiola to Patrick Mahomes on live TV. Well, the praise might be worth what Raiola made in his debut matchup. The rookie QB led his team to a 40-7 win against UTEP, showing flashes of Mahomes’ style. We mean, from his arm angle while throwing to his running form, everything!

In fact, Raiola’s 59-yard touchdown pass to wideout Isiah Neyor even caught Mahomes’ attention, who called him “Lil Cuzzo.” The Huskers’ QB soon responded that it’s a “learned behavior” from Mahomes himself.

But while the rookie quarterback might find support in the stadium, he’s not escaping criticism online. It all started when Raiola’s new look was revealed during the Huskers’ July camp. Sporting sunglasses and a white T-shirt, he looked strikingly similar to Mahomes. The resemblance even caught NFL wideout Tyreek Hill’s eye, who tagged Mahomes in surprise. Since then, the comparisons have kept coming. One frustrated X user quipped, “Can they please compare the Nebraska QB to Mahomes 98 more times?” Well, some fans are even annoyed with Raiola’s apparent imitation of Mahomes, from his moves to even his choice of jersey number—15, just like the Chiefs’ star. “Dylan took that too far, he a weirdo 😂” one user perfectly summed the internet’s reaction. “This Nebraska QB done copied all Mahomes animations, emotes, and everything. It might work lol,” another user wrote.

Meanwhile, the criticism reached a peak when someone tweeted, “I’m cryin they doing a Raiola-Mahomes d**k eating tape.” Well, who knew that a harmless comparison could bring so much backlash to Mahomes’ “lil cuzzo”?
