Back on July 16th, a whole whirlwind of rumors started circulating on X when an account tweeted out that Cormani McClain was being removed from the Gators’ roster. It was allegedly because of his overall behavior at camp and the discipline issues that On3’s Nick De La Torre noted. As per Nick, McClain was never on time for practice sessions and used to skip out camps as well. This entire thing also managed to drag HC Billy Napier under the bus as well for not being able to control the boys on his roster.

Now, the wildest thing happened. Rivals took to X on September 1st to share McClain giddying up before the Gators hit the turf against the Hurricanes. “Former 5⭐️ Cormani McClain suited up and getting ready,” Rivals noted in their caption. And this entire thing managed to tick off the entire fan base because McClain was never there on the depth chart to begin with. This is exactly what a fan also pointed out and noted, “But not on the depth chart.” This makes little to no sense. Imagine being the HC of a team that has managed to grab 3 championship wins and has had 3 Heisman winners making this error. And if we come back to Cormani, his presence means very little. If we check back, the kid ain’t even famous for his plays. He is more famous for his jabs regarding the Buffs and Deion Sanders. However, the entire issue seems like something that was destined to happen. Back on July 18th, Napier did shut down the rumor mill when he noted, “He’s (Cormani) doing fine.” So it makes sense that Napier made some final alterations before the match starts.

However, the main issue is Billy Napier’s inability to handle his team properly. Out of all the people in the world, Coach JB was the one who had called out Napier and his conduct regarding Cormani. “Napier is known to be a pushover and a non-disciplinarian,” JB had mentioned on his show back on July 17th. While McClain was marked as the No.1 corner in the class of 2023, the fans still have mixed feelings about him playing for the Gators despite what happened.

Should Cormani McClain even be here?

One fan on X had quite the reaction to Rivals breaking the news regarding McClain’s presence. “🤣😅🤣😅😭😭,” they wrote in the caption of their post. This makes sense because, as we said before, McClain has yet to make any mark using his skills. Back on Buffs, he didn’t even have that much playtime and whatever time he did get, he did pretty much nothing. Another fan noted, “Thought we chalked him?” This is a stark reminder of the situation that a Twitter account called Polkway started back on July 16th when he wrote, “Cormani McClain has been removed from the University of Florida football.”

Echoing the same sentiment, another fan noted, “Is Cormani still on the Florida roster?” Fortunately yes, the young kid’s football career ain’t over yet. However, Napier still needs to address the entire depth chart thing. Finally, a fan asked, “Cormani starting for UF?” Apparently yes, while despite not being marked on the offense or defense list, McClain will be starting for the Gators this year.
