Okay so, Cormani McClain. This guy has been all over the place and not for the right reasons. See, going into the 2024 season, Cormani McClain was completely benched. Dude got his first hit when the Gators hit the turf against Kentucky. He got his career-first interception and picked off Wildcats QB Cutter Boley. This allowed the Gators to wrap up the game with 48-20 on the board. But then he was put on that turf when Billy Napier took on his biggest challenge; competing against the Dawgs. McClain managed to grab 3 solo tackles and 1 assisted tackle. But for Gators fans, this ain’t enough.
Back on Instagram, Rivals posted a clip of McClain during a warm-up session. “5⭐️ about to do 5⭐️ things,” Rivals mentioned in the caption of their post. And well, the fans were not having any of it. “admit yall got his ranking wrong and quit pimping him out. hes a 3rd stringer,” was the first thing one fan pointed out in the comment section of the post. This entire mess is kind of wild. Why? McClain managed to grab 4 total tackles against a team that has arguably one of the best run games out there. That should count for something, right?

And this entire debate regarding his rate is weird. The dude has barely got any chance to play this entire season. Call it Billy Napier’s incompetence or just plain bad decision-making, McClain should’ve been on that turf since day 1. He-k, my guy, decided to switch teams because he WANTED TO PLAY.
He, honestly, had the Dawgs WR in a lock. Yes, we know that the Gators vs Bulldogs game wasn’t Kirby Smart and his boys’ best performance. Dude, Carson Beck threw 2 interceptions in the early minutes of the game. This is the same QB that has managed to average at least 400 yards in almost every game and has also managed to stand head-to-head against a giant like Bama.
However, Cormani did still do his best. It ain’t his fault that Napier magically decided to bench him because he was “too small”. McClain would’ve gotten a lot of time to shine if he had been allowed to play against the Vols or even the Aggies. But, let’s focus on what Gators fans had to say about McClain’s 5-star crown.
Cormani McClain doesn’t deserve it?

Is Billy Napier's decision to bench Cormani McClain the real reason behind the Gators' struggles?
Have an interesting take?
“He ain’t get no burn today.. he’s an overrated 5star that didn’t meet his expectations and that’s ok,” was the first thing one fan pointed out. See, McClain ain’t a bad player. In his first 2024 season game, the dude managed to grab an interception and ran the ball back by 25 yards. That amounts to something.
2 more fans followed through with the same emotions. “lowkey fell off” and “locked in what” were the comments they left under the post. Again, the same argument. If you do not allow the guy to play then how in the he-k is he supposed to prove that he is a 5-star? Bringing in 4 total tackles against a team like Dawgs is itself a HUGE deal.
Finally, one last fan mentioned, “Not even his coaches locked in lol.” Okay, Billy Napier is cursed. The Dawgs game proves it. It might be too bold to say this, but if DJ Lagway hadn’t managed to injure his hamstring, the Gators would’ve won this game. Carson Beck was a disaster for Smart, and Gators were constantly running the football. The entire injury completely sidetracked the second half, where Smart and his boys managed to turn this around. Napier lost 2 of his best QBs this season, so it’s safe to say that the Gators are royally screwed.
