So, how is that “real and great program” working out for you now? Cormani McClain and his current situation is weird. HC Billy Napier is single-handedly managing to bring down the entire reputation of the Gators and at the same time, is even making a 5-star player’s career look like a joke. Before the disastrous loss against Miami, McClain was spotted flexing on the turf. Naturally, fans thought that Napier would finally make use of McClain and his skill set. But nope, the Gators lost the game and McClain was nowhere to be seen.

Even against Samford and Texas A&M, McClain was still absent. And as Napier speedruns his career down the drain, all the shenanigans he has pulled are making McClain question everything. “don’t @ me,” McClain wrote in the caption of his latest post on Instagram on September 23. With a black t-shirt that had a golden No.1 written on the back, this could be McClain’s cry for help. Or maybe not. While we are no one to speculate, right now, the entire debate of Cormani switching sides and joining back with the Buffs is making waves.

In July, just after a month on the Florida campus, intensifying rumors suggested the 20-year-old was booted off the roster. However, on that occasion, Napier himself had come out and said, “He’s doing fine. A lot of this gets blown out of proportion. He’s a young player. Obviously, we’re well aware of his history.” For the unversed, McClain has always have a bad rep for behavioral issues. When with the Buffs, the cornerback had a similar trajectory as with his current team—lack of playing time. The reason?

“You do know that I check film time for each player. On Thursday, I need film times from the whole staff so I can see who has been preparing. And that’s not just about Cormani. That’s about a multitude of them. So if I don’t see that, you would be a fool to put somebody out there unprepared. Won’t do it, can’t do it. I am old school, I am sorry,” according to Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, forcing him to let the young player go.

Even with the Gators, McClain has reportedly been showing up late to his meetings. As per reporter Nick de la Torre, his consistent tardiness has also landed his team in trouble to the point where no one in the locker even likes McClain anymore. “They started to make the defense and then the rest of the team do these extra lifts thinking that would get Cormani to show up on time and it hasn’t,” the reporter stated.

On the other hand, McClain had reportedly left the team after noting that he didn’t like “playing for clicks”. You can’t really blame him because back in 2023, Buffs and Deion Sanders didn’t really have a good season and also didn’t really make use of McClain and his talents. However, at least Coach Prime was better than what Napier is pulling according to some. With the Gators, McClain’s entire career has reached a standstill. This guy is not traveling, is not getting any shots on the field, and is not even on the special teams.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Cormani McClain's potential move to Colorado under Deion Sanders change the game for the Buffaloes?

Have an interesting take?

So is that why he was being cryptic back on September 15 when he noted, “I am being humble rn, but eventually everybody gotta pay,” on his Instagram? Looks like it. While we cannot say for sure if Deion Sanders would even want to take McClain back, what many note with full confidence is that the Gators and Napier do not deserve this guy. Being a 5-star recruit and not getting to play at all during the 2024 season is tragic.

McClain’s “subtle warning” for the Colorado fans is funny, but what’s more hilarious is what Napier has managed to turn a 3x National Championship-winning team into. Any Gators fan would agree at this point that all they want is Napier getting fired. However, the question is “why.” What has Napier managed to do that has ticked off the entire fanbase? Well, let us get you up to date with that.

Billy Napier shouldn’t even be the HC?

The downfall began when the Gators started their season opener against Florida State. While most fans had thought that this would be an easy win for the Gators, Florida State went on to win 24-15 against the amazing roster that Napier had access to. The second upset came during the Miami 41-17 defeat. This is where the fans had already started to question Napier’s decision-making.

One problem was the starting QB. Despite having access to a talent like DJ Lagway, Napier decided to rely on Graham Mertz. However, the team lost both the matches Mertz started. Napier brought in Lagway during the Samford game and the results show why Lagway has always been a better pick; 45-7 win with DJ locking in 3 touchdowns and 456 yards.

The only time Mertz showed any potential was during the MS Bulldogs game. Gators won 45-28. However, if we look at the entire schedule of the team, the MS Bulldogs game would probably be the last win for the team. Coming up next will be giants like Georgia, Texas, and Ole Miss and from what we have seen, many say Napier ain’t gonna last.
