Remember the name who reigned the 2024 spring window of the transfer portal? It was none other than the former Colorado Buffaloes defensive back Cormani McClain. The former five-star prospect now has been committed to the Florida Gators. Even though he had tough days for quite some time in Billy Napier’s program, the young chap had his family by his side through thick and thin. And this February 17th is a big day for the McClain fam—Cormani’s sister’s birthday! Of course, her brother wouldn’t miss the chance to celebrate her special day.

Last year, McClain had found himself in the hot seat for dragging Deion Sanders through the mud. After committing to the transfer portal, he said how his efforts went unappreciated by Coach Prime and the Buffs. So, the 20-year-old stated, “I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great leading program that’s going to develop players.” While he got trolled for this, his mother stayed by his side like a solid pillar of strength.

His mom, Kaishay, speaking for her son, said, “Gotta be somewhere where you’re appreciated and not just tolerated!!! God take the lead, we right behind ya.” That’s how the McClain’s are a close-knit family who always have each other’s back. So, on Monday, McClain thought of showing his love for that special family member who also has been his biggest supporter on IG.

It was his sister Kaarisha’s 26th birthday. The cornerback’s caption said it all. He did not need long captions to show how much he loves his sister. The short and sweet message read, “Happy gday twin love ye da death ❤️.” Unlike McClain, his sister is not into sports. Kaarisha, a Florida native and hairstylist according to her IG bio, didn’t hesitate to defend her lil bro when the college football world came down on McClain for his comments about Deion.

Kaarisha’s tweets came pouring as she wrote, “STICKING BESIDE MY BROTHER! WHAT YALL GOT TO SAY.”  Followed by a bold statement, “im already pi–ed, these blogs better tread lightly.” Somehow, the proud sister could not be okay with the fact that the college football fans went after McClain. “I see it…bunch of overgrown a- – ppl talking about a 20-year-old..” With this, the controversial transfer portal also landed McClain’s sister in the hot seat.

Kaarisha wasn’t about to let the trolls get away with it. She went after them for bashing her brother, and they definitely didn’t hold back in return. They claimed that she held no knowledge of the sport. On the IsmokeHiphop Live podcast, host DJ Bless One addressed the issue. He stated, “[Cormani’s] sister… Instead of her worrying about being happy for her brother, she’s on IG live going back and forth with trolls on IG.”

The host further continued how this has been a wrong move by McClain’s sister. “She’s calling out the haters or whatever. If you don’t know about football and you speak about anybody and you try to criticize them in a certain way, then that is being a hater because you don’t even know them,” said DJ Bless One. That whole situation seems to be water under the bridge now. Deion Sanders even wished McClain well, hoping he’d find a “program that challenges him,” and McClain’s starting to find his footing with the Gators. But it looks like Coach Prime might be catching some flak himself now. 

In a recent interview, Coach Prime let out a sigh of relief. He will not have to worry about his son Shilo being late for the practice. “(Next season is going to be) great. Because I don’t have to worry about Shilo getting there on time,” said Deion Sanders. Isn’t it the same reason Cormani McClain was called out back in September 2023?

“Be on time for meetings, show up to meetings. Understand the scheme. I check film time from each player so I can see who’s preparing, so if I don’t see that, you would be a fool to put somebody out there who’s not prepared. That goes for all our players,” said the Buffs HC back in 2023. So, Coach Prime better prep up to shield himself from the nepotism attacks.
