In his wake, not only has Billy Napier managed to drag the Gators through the mud, but he also somehow put a question mark on Cormani McClain’s career. Cormani exhibited the traits of a promising career. After moving from the Buffs to the Gators, this dude had the fire in him to make a name. Yet here we are. Getting benched by Napier for no good reason, Cormani McClain has found himself at a crossroads. While most people have moved on, he has a source of strength in his mother, who has stuck with him through it all.
And today Dìamond Kaìshaÿ took to her Instagram account to give a heartfelt shout-out to McClain. “To my son; Never feel that you are alone. No matter how near or far apart, I am always there in your heart,” Kaìshaÿ mentioned in her story. This guy needs all the support he can get. The entire downfall for Cormani began when a random account on X tweeted out that the young DB had been removed from the roster because of behavioral issues.
While Napier and McClain’s agent said that wasn’t true, his stint with the Gators has indeed put him into a debacle. It was not highly impressive during his time with the Buffs either, but at least he started in 4 games out of the 9 he played there. But do you know how many he has played for the Gators?

It is as if this dude and his skills don’t even matter. The worst part is, we even saw McClain warming up before the Miami faceoff and yet he was pulled off the field. Quite surprisingly, Kaishay, who has a strong involvement in Cormani’s football career, did not utter a single word on this occasion. She even remained absent from the game. However, she was very vocal back in April when Cormani entered the transfer portal.
Kaishay took to her X to write a farewell message for the Buffs and Deion Sanders. “Cormani has no one working under him or for him, he & I will be contacting the coaches directly!!! Thankful for all opportunities 🌹And to @DeionSanders & the buff nation 🦬 you guys are still appreciated no matter what! No lost love here! God bless,” she wrote. Deion Sanders was quick to respond.

Is Billy Napier single-handedly responsible for the Gators' downfall, or is there more to the story?

“Much Love Mama and I pray that all things work together for the good,” Coach Prime wrote. However, all was not OK between Cormani and Deion Sanders when the former was leaving the Buffs. Deion Sanders was evidently unhappy with Cormani when he was asked about the cornerback in a press conference last year.
“Study, prepare, be on time for meetings, show up to the dern meetings. Understand what we’re doing as a scheme. Want to play this game… Desire to play this game. Desire to be the best in this game– at practice, in the film room and in your own free time,” Coach Prime had said back then. Cormani did not step back either.
In an X Spaces conversation, Cormani was asked how committed he was to transfer out of Colorado. “[On a scale of 1-10] It was an 11. It ain’t on my end, it’s on their end,” came his reply. The indication was clear. Cormani put the entire thing on Deion Sanders and his staff. Referring to his non-involvement in the games, he had also said, “I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great-leading program that’s going to develop players.”
While Cormani’s fate did not change in Florida, it ain’t no wonder why he wants to come back to Deion Sanders and Co. Dropping hints along the way, like his Instagram post where he showed off his black t-shirt with a gold ‘1’ on the back and also attending the Buffs vs Knights game. Cormani has made it very clear that if Coach Prime calls him back, he will go running in. It would be interesting to find his mother’s take on this. But looking at the past incidents, it remains a question if Deion Sanders will call Cormani back. However, one thing is certain.
It feels like the best option for him right now is going back to the Buffs. The Gators are not in a good spot. With a 3-3 run, they won’t even make it to the Bowl games, let alone the playoffs. And who stands in the center of it all? Who turned a great program into pure garbage?
The man, the myth, the legend; Billy Napier
Do you know what’s worse than having an HC who can’t make a proper decision? Having an HC who can’t make a proper decision and is horrendous at play-calling. The Vols game should’ve been a win, but somehow Napier managed to ruin it all.

The second quarter of the game was the perfect example of what not to do. Gators were on a lead and they would’ve managed to maintain it. This was the only game where the defensive line was solid and managed to cripple the Vols offense.
Yet Napier did the same old predictable play calling which allowed the Vols to pull in 10 points. The same problem followed in the overtime as well. 1010XL: Gators point out, “They would have called a flea flicker reverse.” Instead of trying to trick the Vols’ defense, Napier went back to the roots and did the same thing he did during the 2nd quarter of the game. This allowed the Vols to secure a win in the overtime.
One biggest failure for Billy Napier has been his inability to tie the loose ends of Gators’ defense. Not to forget that he received a porous defense from his predecessor, Dan Mullen. “It’s one thing to know; it’s another thing to apply. You have to go execute in the moment. You have to go apply what you learned. There is a combination of things here from a responsibility, accountability standpoint,” Napier said. The Gators showed some sparks in back-to-back wins against Mississippi State and UCF. But was simply outplayed by the Vols.

Florida also struggled to hold off Miami and Texas A&M, falling behind 38-10 against the Hurricanes and 33-7 against the Aggies. Miami finished with 529 yards and A&M with 488. Napier then went on to actively help scout teams provide better looks for starters. More involvement followed during the team’s bye week. Results were visible.
Florida pulled off its best defensive effort, holding UCF to 273 yards and sacking KJ Jefferson five times in a 24-13 win on the October 5 game. “I feel like there were times where we weren’t clicking as a unit. When we do click as a unit, it’s like, ‘Oh, wow. Oh, wow.’,” linebacker R.J. Moten had said on that occasion. Indeed, that click is what the Gators need with huge programs next on the schedule (Bulldogs and Longhorns). Without that, there is no way they will be able to redeem themselves against these top-of-the-table teams.
