Is Cormani McClain's scouting move a smart strategy or a blatant disregard for sportsmanship?

The game between the Colorado Buffs and UCF Knights had plenty of highlights, with stars like Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders shining. But no one expected Florida Gators cornerback Cormani McClain to make headlines here. Well, there were already questions about his place on Billy Napier’s team, as he hadn’t been on the depth chart all season. Now, amidst that, his attendance at the Buffs vs UCF game has raised some serious concerns.

On 29th September, a fan took to X to share Cormani McClain’s Instagram story of watching the Colorado vs. Knights game. “Former 5⭐️ DB Cormani McClain is at the Colorado vs. UCF game👀” they said. As soon as this tweet was posted, fans started making scouting allegations against him. But why all this fuss?

Interestingly, Cormani started his college football journey as a 5-star recruit under Coach Deion Sanders with the Colorado Buffaloes in 2023. He played in 9 games, starting just 4 of them, and recorded 13 tackles before entering the transfer portal. Explaining his decision, Cormani said, “I feel like I just don’t want to play for clicks. I actually want to be involved with a great-leading program that’s going to develop players.”

Well, hoping for a fresh start, he returned to his home state and joined the Florida Gators. However, things haven’t gone as planned. Coach Napier surprisingly benched McClain for the season opener against the Hurricanes, which resulted in a tough 41-17 loss for the Gators.

By Week 3, Florida faced another defeat against Texas A&M with a 33-20 score, and McClain didn’t seem to take it lightly. After the game, he posted a cryptic photo on Instagram wearing a shirt that read “The Price is the Price,” which many believed was a dig at the Gators’ struggles without him on the field. This caught a lot of attention, and now fans are speculating that McClain might be working as a scout for Florida. Clearly, something’s off in the Gators’ camp.

Cormani McClain is making headlines this season because of his mysterious absence on the field. Instead of playing for the Gators, he is now attending the Buffs vs. UCF game, which has raised scouting allegations against him. After Cormani’s game-day status went viral, fans couldn’t help but speculate on him as Florida’s scout, as they are going to go up against UCF next week. ”He’s scouting for Florida since they play UCF next week, lol.” They kept on commenting on the above-mentioned tweet, repeating the same question: “He is scouting for Florida as they play UCF next week. Tell me, lol.”

It’s possible Cormani was just there to support the Buffs, but given his rocky history with them, fans aren’t buying it. Many believe he’s scouting UCF ahead of Florida’s next game. One fan noted, “Just for context: UF plays UCF next week.” Another added, “He’s probably on the scouting team since Florida plays them next.”

Before the 2024 season even began, rumors swirled about Cormani’s behavior being so bad that UF might suspend him. But head coach Billy Napier and McClain’s agent quickly shut those rumors down, saying they were false and that McClain was still part of the team, preparing well. However, his absence from the depth chart tells a different story.
