The Wrigley Field showdown last week took a nasty turn when Jeremiah Smith, star wide receiver for the Bucks, experienced a nightmare moment during his impressive 68-yard run. As Smith attempted a third-down play against the Wildcats, he encountered a jarring tackle from defensive back Robert Fitzgerald. This tackle left Smith limping off the field, igniting a controversy regarding whether it was a deliberate foul play or a strategic move by the Northwestern team.

Regardless of the reason, Ryan Day did not let it prevent him from standing up for his players. He filed a review against the foul play by Robert, questioning the distinction between an honest mistake and an intentional act. Even after Smith’s return to the game and his 2-yard rush against the Wildcats, his departure left Bucks fans scratching their heads at how far this fight for justice would go. Doing a fellow player dirty like that ain’t cool, you’ve gotta show some respect to the sport and your opponents.

Foul-play acknowledged by Ryan Day

But it looks like someone finally noticed the foul play, as today during an interview featured in Bucknuts 247Sports, head coach Ryan Day told media, confirming the news of this action, saying that the Ryan Day saying that the big 10 also agrees that Jeremiah was done dirty and Northwestern defensive back Robert Fitzgerald turned Jeremiah Smith’s ankle in the game. He said, “You, uh, no, I haven’t heard much back other than it should have been a foul, and I know there’s still some conversation there.”

Well, there is still no confirmation on the definite actions against Robert Fitzgerald, but the way things got out of hand fast in the Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Northwestern Wildcats game last week, the repercussions might be bigger. Acknowledgment from the HC here means that the deed was indeed not cool! There are players out there doing dirty to get some more points on board!

During the Bucks game against the Wildcats, a video on social media showed Fitzgerald turning Jeremiah Smit’s ankle. This was the turning point of Robert’s fate, and now that the decision is just a blink away, Robert is likely to get suspended for a game. But for now, let’s see what good news Ryan Day has to give.

Did the refs turn a blind eye to foul play, costing the Buckeyes their star player?

Have an interesting take?

Even in between all this mess, the Buckeyes successfully secured a remarkable win against the Wildcats with a score of 31-7. However, this victory came at a big cost. But things are turning for good. However, the question that continuously popped into fans’ heads is: Is Jeremiah returning for their game against Indiana in his full form? The answer is yes. Recently, while talking about Smith’s injury, head coach Ryan Day confirmed his health status, saying, “Good to go.”

Well, Jeremiah Smith’s presence was much needed for the Bucks game against Indiana to give them a decent spot in the playoffs. Now that the young wide receiver will return, hopefully, there will be more than 4 receptions and a 100-yard run added to his record playing against the Hoosiers. This week at the Ohio Stadium, we’ll see how things play out and who ultimately takes home the victory.
