Whenever something revolving around the Buffs happens, every media outlet jumps on it like a raving addict at an underground concert. “Oh, Deion Sanders did this” “Prime Time big mistake” “Deion Sanders’ breaking rules”... etc, etc. Yes, Deion Sanders is a big name but a minor NCAA rule violation getting the same attention as a WR involved in a hit-and-run cause is just plain ridiculous. If you didn’t know, USA Today published a piece on January 23rd explaining how Coach Prime was hit with violations because he “revealed” Julian Lewis‘ name during a live stream. This entire scenario begs the question: Why is the media so hostile towards Deion Sanders? Didn’t this man just change the Buffs’ history?

“And so like I said, Adam over there at Buff Stampede, he posted this tweet saying ‘a reminder that pretty much every FPS program has to report minor recruiting violations… would prefer to see a report on every P4 program, instead of the focus being on the CU buff, simply because it drives clicks’ and he’s right,” Prime Time CFB pointed out. Always about the clicks, huh? All Deion ever did was mention ‘Juju’ during the live stream and while this does fall under the NCAA rules that a school cannot reveal recruit names, why do we not see media outlets cover other schools that have committed this type of violations?

It’s kind of weird that most people only focus on the “bad” side of Colorado football. Remember the entire locker room drama? The entire internet went buck-wild when bullying allegations were revealed against some notable Buffs players. The entire atmosphere at the Colorado Buffs locker room was called a “grand theft auto video game” – Players waving guns and money.

Apparently, “former players” alleged that players like Jordan Seaton were asked to “prove his manhood”. He-k people even claimed that Kaleb Mathis and Colton Allen had a full-blown fistfight over $10k. The entire story died down the instant Deion and even other players came forward, clearing the allegations and marking them as lies.

When you compare that scenario with how Georgia’s locker room issues and constant disciplinary problems were tackled by the media, there is a big difference. At least for Kirby Smart, people gave the HC some sort of chance to clarify himself. For Deion? His program was instantly marked as “bad”.

The NCAA violation penalties have caused any/all Colorado live streams to be shut down. Moving forward, you won’t be seeing any Buffs live streams. Deion Sanders also has to attend “NCAA rules education sessions” and reduce in-person recruiting. It’s also kind of funny that this “Deion Sanders hate train” also trickles down to his players.

This ain’t Juju’s first rodeo

Why does Deion Sanders face harsher media scrutiny than other coaches for minor infractions?

Have an interesting take?

While Julian Lewis has not faced any penalties for the rule violation, this ain’t the first time he has found himself in trouble because of Coach Prime. “To whom it may concern, if you desire to come play for us @CUBuffsFootball they may drop your HS rankings.” This was something Deion had tweeted out the moment Lewis had exposed his inclination to join the Buffs.

The 5-star 2025 prospect was instantly dropped to a 4-star by On3 and 247Sports. Just a few days before all of this happened, Elite11 had marked Lewis as the most accurate passer in the entire country. Imagine being so coveted yet when you commit to the Buffaloes you find your rating slashed.

And this ain’t even the first time something like this has happened. When Travis Hunter first committed to the Buffs, his ratings were also slashed by ESPN. It’s like everyone hates Prime Time and this is probably what made the 9-win 2024 season run so fun to watch.

Those “Hollywood” and “Playing for clicks” tags fell off and even people like Paul Finebaum had to retract their statements and declare Deion Sanders as a good coach.
