Kirk Herbstreit has once again found himself in the hot seat amidst a crazy Ohio State-Michigan rivalry. Herbstreit has previously received a lot of stick for being unnecessarily biased toward his alma mater, Ohio State, ahead of the final night at Atlanta. He refused to perform the pick-one predictive champion before the game kicked off, and fans took it as a sign of safeguarding the Buckeyes from a potential heartbreak. However, he gets pressed from both sides. OSU fans also declared war against him after they saw him in that maize and blue jersey in the family photograph as one Chase Herbstreit made a big move in his career.
Chase, who has been a die-hard Ohio State fan just like his commentator dad, recently signed with Michigan and visited their campus this past weekend as part of a big final recruiting weekend for the Wolverines. It was as shocking as it sounds for a family that inherently carried the Ohio State DNA.
Kirk Herbstreit’s wife, Alison, has been a celebrated cheerleader at Columbus for a long time. Zak, one of Chase’s brothers, has also been a walk-on tight end at Ohio State who just came fresh off of a natty win. Seeing his brother on the opponent’s court, Zak made a sarcastic comment that read, ”You are the chosen one.”

Fans smell a family riot over dinner immediately, and while they might not be wrong, there is more to the story that is worth raising your hair. It’s not just OSU fans that are making all the noise. In a quick counter-reaction, an anonymous Michigan fan made a menacing allegation against Ohio State, Ryan Day, and Kirk and his son. He instilled a seed of doubt that can make you think logically what could be the reason that Kirk, the certified Buckeyes advocate let his son sign with the opponent?

Is it the only P4 offer he had there on his table? Well, even if that would have been the case, is it Ryan Day and Kirk Herbstreit’s secret deal to leak information out of the rival’s locker room? It sounds crazy but triggered fans’ theory often knows no bounds.
And what does the counterforce, namely the Ohio State faithful, have to say against this?

Cincinnati St. Xavier’s standout quarterback, Chase Herbstreit, is widely known for his remarkable senior years. His numbers were stupendous, containing 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushing for 649 yards and eight touchdowns. But Ohio State fans ain’t in a condition to hold up these numbers against an act that they deem as a massive infidelity. One of the fans vent out frustration on the kid, saying, ‘‘He isn’t that good…nothing too deep about.”
Fans aren’t going to go soft on him any time soon. They also dismissed the absurd conspiracy theory while ripping off the new Michigan signee in the comment. ‘‘Lmaoo Just because they had to cheat doesn’t mean Ohio State has to cheat too. I think Ohio State proved for two decades that they don’t need any intel. They just need to let loose mentally to take back the crown in that game.”
While you are busy interpreting whether it is scripted or original, let us take you back to when OSU fans were calling for Ryan Day’s head after a gusty Michigan loss, forcing the veteran fifth-year coach to depend on some security personnel for the sake of safety. Herbstreit was the guy to call out the nonsense on his podcast and got shredded by a lot of OSU fans. Addressing that chaotic heartbreak, one fan poked fun: ”Well then, he must be a horrible mole because they waxed the bucks.”

Other fans keep echoing the same thought that Ohio State declines him and he gets to go nowhere other than Michigan. ”He doesn’t even have OSU offer, what makes him want to do that for free,” one fan wrote. Another fan went a little extra mile to troll Michigan and Chase Herbstreit at one shot, saying, ‘‘That kid literally had no big time offers, yet Michigan offered him 😂😂 He’s the perfect qb for a team on sanctions 😂.
We will see how well Kirk Herbstreit balances out both a father, a most loyal fan, and a former player’s duty at the same time.
